It’s Donald Trump’s party, not Paul Ryan’s.
Yep, and I dont think we need to wait 70 days for Ryan to do what he has to do, already two of his lieutenants have abandoned him on this gambit(Westmoreland/Ross).
Tough ****, the victor will be treated as the victor, there are no other options.
For assholes like Ryan and Jeb Bush... I have have a few words...
1. **** off.
2. Good riddance.
I sooooo hope Ryan gets Cantorized.
Whoa! What's this? This sure caught me by surprise! Paul Ryan says he's not ready to support Trump
The backstory: How Ryan decided to ditch Trump
And some general background reference: House Republicans fear Trump effect
Not to be outdone, Mr. Trump responded with this:
"- MAY 05, 2016 -
DONALD J. TRUMP RESPONDS TO SPEAKER PAUL RYAN
"I am not ready to support Speaker Ryan's agenda. Perhaps in the future we can work together and come to an agreement about what is best for the American people. They have been treated so badly for so long that it is about time for politicians to put them first!"
Donald J. Trump"

So what are we to make of it?
After party chairman Reince Priebus declared Mr. Trump "the presumptive nominee" immediately after Sen Cruz' concession speech, I thought the floodgates of support would open to Mr. Trump. Apparently not.
I do find it interesting that this comes the day after Mr. Trump announces he will not self-fund his campaign. Could this be related? Is the GOP establishment attempting to limit or bargain with Trump, before allowing access to their donor base?
Or could they be considering throwing-in-the-towel on Trump & the 2016 Presidency, and isolating their down-ticket races by running against Trump? Could Ryan subsequently be looking to running (and saving the party for the establishment) in 2020?
Crazy ideas above, but it's a crazy cycle!
Actually, I'm thinking this is a little less hyperbolic than the above, and believe the nomination and subsequent GOP capitulation all went down too fast for the establishment; so Spkr Ryan decided to freeze the action. His actions could serve the tri-fold purpose of: 1] freezing Trump from further access to party resources. 2] giving establishment members a bit more time to remain uncommitted while they check their pulses and strategize. 3] while also putting Trump on notice that the party is still in control of the show.
What says you?
God damn those people with actual principals! Damn them!
"Here’s another sop that Trump could offer to get Ryan on board: nothing. Would “nothing” work for Ryan? He came into this believing he had leverage over Trump. He has none, and he’s going to have to change his position in the near future. He’d better prepare himself to accept Trump and all his warts as the symbol of his party, because, whether he realizes it or not, Trump already owns him."
God damn those TENS OF MILLIONS of AMERICANS VOTERS who voted for TRUMP,just throw them under the establishment's bus.
it is people like you and ryan that make me want to puke, yes you are a liberal alright .
run don run

House Speaker Paul Ryan laughed at Donald Trump’s immigration plan when asked on 60 minutes what he thought about it. On deporting 11 million illegal immigrants Speaker Paul Ryan said “there should be a way to legal status. That is what I have proposed in the past."

Me too. I'm not ready to support Trump. Since he's both incompetent for the position, and antithetical to everything this country stands for... I am not sure when I will be.
Incompetent? He's actually built things... Unlike the doofus running the show now... Who's proven to be in way, way, way above his pay grade... And dangerous with everything foreign and domestic.
Is your country Amerika? Then yes... He doesn't represent you.
You claiming Ryan has principles?
He may have early on, but he's been corrupted, and the idiotic budget he signed off on was a massive signal for the deaf, dumb and blind.
Now this with Trump. The good news is he's farked himself. Nixon and Reagan supported Goldwater (difference being Trump is going to crush Hillary or Sanders)... And those who pulled a Ryan in the Goldwater days had no future running for the highest office.
I'm not surprised a Socialist is a defender of Ryan. All the more proof... He's ****ed himself.
1. Unlike Obama... Trump has worked in the real world... He knows how it works, and how corrupt and bureaucratic it is... And Obama and his ilk have made this crony capitalism... Worse. That's nice.
Lots of people have built things. Esp. people who started off with a large pool of resources. But that doesn't mean they'd be competent as a carpenter, or brain surgeon, or psychiatrist, or fishing boat deckhand, or mayor, or roofer.... or president.
And calling our president a doofus isn't particularly convincing. And your suggestion that he hasn't accomplished anything during his time in office only shows that you haven't been paying much attention to his actions: for good or ill.
As for how his approach is antithetical: one example - just compare his comments on immigration to how we have traditionally approached the matter.

But she is sure that whether Trump wins or not, by petulantly stomping their feet and refusing to support the GOP nominee, the #NeverTrumpers are effectively cutting themselves out of any possibility their precious principles will form any part of the new GOP. As far as Noonan is concerned, conservatives should get on board or risk all their ideas being ignored entirely in Washington.
Principals does not mean agreeing with you. Sorry I used such a difficult word.
ROTFLOL... How rich...
You're right... "Principle" seems to be a word YOU fail to understand.
Let me help you in your confusion... Principle is what I spoke about... Having principles... Of which Ryan once had shown early in his political career. I used to think much of the guy... Not any longer. Now he's another political snake oil salesman.
"Principal"... Here is how you can sort it out in the majestic vastness in that mind of yours... Your "principal" is your pal. Head... Leader... Capital... Etc.
Capiche?
Applying the dictum of Carl Gustav Jacobi... This is the time to ... Invert, always invert... And in doing so we have a great opportunity to identify the jerk ovs in the party... And move to have them targeted for defeat.Peggy Noonan thinks it is more extreme than that:

Cheney... Hats off to him. Trump went after a portion of his foreign policy... But being a man of character, he sees the big picture.
Jeb, Ryan, Graham... Pure unadulterated Assholes.
So to you, he stopped being principled when he stopped agreeing with you. Hint: that is not what principle means...
For the most politically tone deaf, this one time fiscal conservative stopped being principled when he passed that Obama wish list called a budget... Now this crap with Trump... Illustrates without a doubt he's not the person I thought he was... And I hope he is defeated. His principles are not what I want as Leader of the House.
And... For someone who fails to understand the difference between principal and principle... Telling others what principled means isn't quite funny.
Often we agree on stuff, but with Trump... Not... So...So you were 100% behind everything Barack Obama wanted to do, because the votes of tens of millions Americans (who elected him) is more important than anything else, including reason, logic, or opposing views.
Often we agree on stuff, but with Trump... Not... So...
...Nice try... Obama is a socialist through and through... And there isn't a thing I found appealing about his politics. I would have backed anyone on the right against him.
What is the alternative to Trump? Another 4-years of Obama-like destruction.
Now, I have supported presidential candidates from the right I haven't particularly liked, because the alternative is worse... By many degrees. Same in this instance.
I understand many don't like Trump... Well... Suck it up... You think Hillary is a better alternative???
