Olympics have started!

I can't believe Murray beat Djokovic! He must have really had his game face on. Good on him!

I suspect that home advantage plays a slightly bigger part in proceedings at the Olympics than it does during a normal Wimbledon. Apparently the atmosphere for the GB team members in all the venues is unbelievably encouraging.

Adlington beaten out for the Gold, still 2 gold medals and 2 bronze makes a pretty epic olympic career for a British swimmer.

have to say though I find it interesting that the American media are not questioning this 15year old like they did to the Chinese girl.

Very interesting competition so far with lots of challengers. Let it be known that I am pulling for China, France, Germany, and North Korea. Go Commies!

North Korea have won every medal so far....depending on what Medal table you look at ;)

Then you clearly did not watch the match, know nothing about tennis and are just putting the lad down because he is a Scot.

Murray has the quality to beat any player on any given day But I must admit he seemed to enjoy the "concert" like atmosphere rather than the stuffy middle class Wimbledon. Sometimes our boy needs to be picked up and I think that kind of crowd really helps him out.

Tough to be Korean nowadays, and see your medal count being split in two...to the benefit of some other united entities.

Yeh I know its pretty selfish of the South Koreans not to share their medals with a military regime who sends thousands to work camps every year and lets their people starve....

The South Koreans were nice enough to share their flag with the North Korean soccer team.

I take it you're cheering for the other team then? Don't be so bitter;)

I don't deny the crowd was excellent but that was not why he won and to pretend it was the reason as Andalablue did is in very poor taste.

Their head to head is Djokovic 8 Andy 6 so to make out there is anything unusual about Andy beating him is being as I said either ignorant or having a go at him because he is a Scot.

The first set, I am imagining you saw it, had some of the most amazing tennis I have ever seen from both players as they tried to make their mark and secure their place in the final. The number of winning shots which were returned with other winning shots by both players and then returned was quite remarkable. Andy was the one who made it.

I don't think that intensity could be kept up by any player and Andy did not play as well in the second set almost losing his serve 3 or 4 times but the important thing was he kept his cool and played the shots when it mattered. Now the last game. Without question the crowd had it and the match won before it even began regardless of the fact that Andy was not serving. I don't think I have ever in my life seen anyone given such support. Andy had the determination and I think possibly Novak was a bit taken back - I have never heard a crowd shout 'Easy, easy' at a tennis match particularly about someone of his ability - Number 1 for a year until Wimbledon winning almost everything.

The crowd was good. The crowd was amazing and it must have felt fantastic for Andy, particularly as it has not always been so. He had tears at the end but you cannot take away the reality that he and Djokovic played some of the best tennis I have ever seen and both of them really wanted it. Tennis often relies on one or two points. Andy had them today. If he had not presented such excellent tennis, the crowd would have been unable to give him such overwhelmingly confident support.

Yes the crowd were wonderful but don't take from that what the lad did. He deserves his place in the final.

What an amazing record Phelps has, we knighted and titled a couple of ours who won 4 or 5 Gold medals - what honour can a republic give such an Olympian?
Actually - why didn't the IOC give him an Olympic pin for this feat? Juan Antonio Samaranch came out personally to award Redgrave on the medals pedestal and Jaques Rogge should have done the same for Phelps.

He can be President:)

Only a mind addled by nationalist paranoia could see my comment as anything negative or critical of Murray. He did great and played an unbelievable match, even better than he played to reach the Wimbledon final. Which bit of my statement specifically piques your persecution complex?

If you want to deny that a friendly crowd can boost the performance of a sportsperson you might want to listen to the post-match interviews with gold medallists like Sir Chris Hoy and Katherine Grainger. Perhaps they are anti-Scottish too.

Well, most of modern-day France was once under the English crown, so can we put our two sets of medals together?

We could certainly put together all sets of medals from the EU, but it would kill the competition.

As cop outs go - I give that a 'C'.

Have a nice day.

If you want an answer, then I can link Infinite Chaos answer ...I agree with him 100% and cant articulate it better.

I think the Chinese and US would hate that most. The EU is currently running on 34 golds!

typical crude personal insult from you

could see my comment as anything negative or critical of Murray.

Indeed and yet you put his win down to just being the crowd. I just thought I would mentioned it having been aware before of your crude hateful spiteful English Nationalism towards me and anyone who would choose to vote for Independence coupled with your pretense that that has nothing to do with ethnic nationalism.

I have no need to waste time with a dishonest person such as yourself.

bye

that massively receding hair line sure looks suspicious.

Inaccurate and dishonest as usual. I don't know what happened to you, Alexa but it's quite sad. I think we'd both be advised to put one another on ignore.
