Even as President Obama and his administration are making a last minute push to encourage enrollment in Obamacare, a quiet change was made on the Healthcare.gov website regarding those who will still not be able to afford coverage after the program kicks in. From at least June 26, 2013 to as recently as September 15, under the topic, "Where can I get free or low-cost care in my community?" the following statement appeared: "If you can't afford any health plan, you can get free or low-cost health and dental care at a nearby community health center." Here is how the page in question appeared:
However, sometime between September 16 and September 23, the reference to "free" care was dropped. The title of the topic was changed as well, and now reads: "Where can I get low-cost care in my community?" Here is how the page currently appears:

"This was the moment we started to provide care for the sick .."
.Looking back at that rhetoric now, how anyone fell for these absurdities ...
I'll tell you what's really absurd: The fact that so many people on the right actually thought that Romney had a chance to win last November.
Romney wasn't even in the game.
Can anyone guess what will happen if the GOP runs another dude like Romney in 2016?

Look at you bringing up Romney...
Ha, who'd a thunk it?
If the loons think healthcare is expensive now, wait until it's free.

Three different pages on the same site which uses the word free to discuss healthcare. Surprising that wasn't mentioned in the opening post.
And as far as "quietly" goes, what does "loud" sound like on a website?

Touche :thumbs:Any wonder why the collective has started dropping the "Obamacare" reference over the last few weeks in favor of "Affordable Care Act"?

A big "Down for Construction while removing the word Free" banner with loud sirens. That's the only way a change should happen...everything else is assumed to be devious in nature.https://www.healthcare.gov/how-does-the-affordable-care-act-affect-me/

Um, "free" isn't mentioned here.
If you need coverage, you can use the Marketplace. If you have coverage, you gain new protections. If you don’t have coverage, you may have to pay a fee.
Um, "free" is mentioned here, albeit with the caveat "may"
You or your child may get free or low-cost coverage through Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program CHIP.
Um, "free" is mentioned here, albeit with the caveat "may" and then only in the context of preventive screenings
You may be eligible for free preventive screenings, like blood pressure and cholesterol tests, mammograms, colonoscopies, and more. This includes coverage for vaccines and new preventive services for women.

Look harder on the page.Um, "free" isn't mentioned here.
Obviously it's not irrelevant, because it was the topic of a thread. *shrug*Um, "free" is mentioned here, albeit with the caveat "may"

I think it's a pretty darn relevant point.
As an independent I would have gladly welcomed a viable Republican candidate in 2012.
And there were more than a few in the early running.
But at a time when American needed a real fiscal conservative the Republican Party opted for a caricature of a social conservative with a proven chief executive history of fiscal liberalism.
I mean, after all, Romney was doing socialized medicine before socialized medicine was cool.
So to complain that Obama sux because of Obamacare when the alternative to Obama was the guy who ran the pilot program for Obamacare is kinda silliy.
I wonder why they'd think that it might actually be cheaper...
You probably are referring to this quote: "You’ll also learn if you can get free or low-cost coverage through Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)." Aren't we getting a little petty with the technicalities? Oh, and there's this reference too (the only other one): "...benefits like free preventive care." Already addressed as something caveated with the word "may."Look harder on the page.
