Thirty US service members were killed on August 6, 2011, when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter they were being transported in crashed in Wardak province, Afghanistan. It was the deadliest single loss for U.S. forces in the decade-long war in Afghanistan. 17 members of the elite Navy SEALs were killed in the crash.

Yesterday, Karen and Billy Vaughn, parents of Aaron Carson Vaughn, spoke at the Defending the Defenders forum sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots outside the RNC Convention in Tampa. Karen brought a copy of the letter they were sent following their son’s death.

It’s a form letter.

It was signed by an electric pen.

Karen Vaughn reached out to the parents of the other SEALs killed in that crash. Their letters were all the same, form letters signed by an electric pen.

classy

no wonder the seals are so upset with their thoughtless, even crude commander in chief

you're probably aware of the ads the seals have been running attacking the admin for leaking classified info to the media in an attempt to make obama look good

Former special forces officers slam Obama over leaks on bin Laden killing - CNN.com

there are now so many leaks---stuxnet, the kill list, afridi (the named pakistani doctor, now in jail, who helped the cia find ubl), the unprecedented cia access (described in cia emails as a "deep dive) granted hollywood moviemakers mark boal and kathryn bigelow for the upcoming ubl blockbuster

no less than diane feinstein declared unequivocally that the leaks endangered our operations and troops and that "the white house needs to understand that some of this is coming from their ranks"

Dianne Feinstein: White House Responsible For Some Leaks Of Classified Information

the morning after ubl's assassination, by which time classified details of the raid were already appearing in public, obama's defense secty robt gates, holdover from bush, reportedly confronted tom donilon demanding that obama's nsa "shut the f*** up"

Secretary Gates’s STFU Policy - ABC News

gates was reportedly upset about the "series of triumphalist sounding comments" coming out of obama's tuesday intel briefings

obama personally pushed back against the charge that he leaks for political reasons---his spiking the football---by labeling the seals' ad campaign against him as "swiftboating"

but the idiot-in-chief ignorantly referred to the top NAVY seal as "GENERAL mcraven"

at least he didn't call the admiral a corPsman

Obama Botches Rank Of Top Navy SEAL... - Barack Obama - Fox Nation

a separate but equally troubling development this week is the assassination of 4 more of our soldiers, making 10 this month alone, 40 all told this year, by our so called "allies" in mounting "green vs blue" attacks in afghanistan

http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2012...stan-shooting.html?_r=2&partner=MYWAY&ei=5065

worse, on monday obama's top commander in the field, john allen, assured us all that this dramatic increase in green on blue is NOT taliban directed, instead these attacks are merely the effects of "personal grievances," "stress," and "daily pressure"

http://www.businessweek.com/news/20...dont-threaten-u-dot-s-dot-strategy-allen-says

like it or not, afghanistan is obama's war, he campaigned on it as the "right war," and he surged 30,000 troops

how can the strategy of our clueless cic succeed when its central tenet, the afghanization of the war, depends on people many of whom are trying to kill us

john mccain is currently hammering this dangerously leaky white house at the rnc in tampa: "our troops are endangered by an administration that leaks details of our operations to the media"

69 days...

The desperation is strong with this one. But he's not ready yet master yoda.

Are SEALS specially deserving of hand-signed and hand-written letters from the President and other service people are not? Or should the President hand-write a letter and hand-sign a letter for every one who dies?

Pathetic really. A form letter? Good grief©

Yes, all the fallen should get a hand signed personal letter of acknowledgement from the CIC. Even Bush, the creepiest president in history apparently did that much. (based on internet research, not represented as a fact).

each signature looks different to me......

I don't see why something like this would be an issue.

There are 300,000,000 Americans and billions of people in the world, gzillions of politicians, events, decisions...

I won't be voting for Obama, but I recognize the time limitations upon the president.

George Bush did the same thing. At least the President paid his respects to the fallen soldier's bodies during transfer. [Source]

The death of a Navy seal is no more or less a lose than the death of any other soldier.

Sometimes I think PETA was just an incredibly convoluted method of getting women to take their clothes off in public.
