I was just watching FOX, at 8:15 or so on 4-7-09. I saw them get crazy about Obama being courteous to another world leader. O' Reilly himself said that Obama was just being courteous. For gods sakes, I'm just glad we have a president who HAS manners, rather then a Texan Cowboy, who's going around and self-rightouesly declaring war on people who haven't touched us in nearly 2 decades. I think that News Agencies are talking about this, simply because Obama doesn't make many other mistakes.

on one hand I agree with you. it's not a very big deal. I think it was fine to give the queen an ipod/music book too.

on the other hand, I wish he would learn the proper protocol. it's disrespectful not to know, because it looks like you just don't care. not like I'm really concerned with showing respect to whatever other leader, but I do like my president to be dignified.

I believe whatever else you may say about bush, he was a gentleman and I don't find it at all difficult to respect him as a person.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, could you please elaborate? If you mean about Mrs. Obama touching the Queen, well the Queen initiated the gesture lol.

no I meant bowing to the saudi king, it was apparently a mistake, not the proper way to greet a saudi king. there was a big fuss over it. I'm not worried about the guy being offended as much as I'm annoyed that the leader of the free world doesn't know better. but my annoyance is minimal, because I really just don't care much. I'm sure you can relate.

Team Obama's foreign policy-relation blunders are both numerous and constant.
They have assembled quite the record in such a short time.

Think if Bush and his folks did this crap? LOL...

The Obamatrons blundered with the Brits multiple times in a few short weeks... returning the Churchill bust, dissing Brown when he arrived, then giving CD's, then the whole dog and pony show with the Queen.

Little reported (wonder why)... He stuck his nose into Pakistani and Indian affairs and got his nose bloodied.

Telling China human rights do not matter; that's like telling a teenie it's ok to have a little casual sex. What do the Chinese do seeing all this weakness?
They start "pinging" us around the world.

Iran. He crawled and the Iranians booted him in the face, then in the nuts. "Death to America" was their message... loud and clear.

He speaks about a world without nukes, and 10 minutes later North Korea launches a rocket.

Russia gets an overcharge button.

Obama pisses on his own country.

His bowing like a slave to the Saudi King. I'm glad Le Teleprompteur said bow and not blow... his penchant for doing what Le Teleprompteur tells him to do and say... makes one nervous.

Obama's naivete is going to embolden all the kooks; when they see a US President weaker than Carter... one with a rose colored, kumbaya world view... they're going to kick his ass at every possible turn.

He won't only be tested in the first 6-months as Biden claimed, his weakness will ensure they test him constantly... until he's voted out of office in 45-months.

The more I see right wingers gnashing their teeth and rending their garments over inconsequential stuff like this, the more assured I am that Obama is doing a fine job.

We are already discussing this in another thread.

Bowing is insulting to allah, you don't bow.

So how the world views us is no longer a talking point? I didn't get the memo.

Yea, but their is such a level of hatred towards Americans for being "ignorant" and thinking they are better then others and if our president shows he's willing to listen and to show more respect to other world leaders maybe it will help preceptions of americans. Obama is out there repping us to the rest of the world.

Were you this selective in your outrage when the Liberuls made a huge deal of George Bush holding hands with the Saudi King?

By the way, Bush's actions showed he better understood the culture far more than Obama's faux pas of bowing which was improper and considered impolite.

But alas, when it comes to Bush bashing, there were no bounds; but insult dear leader, God forbid!

Carry on. :2wave:

Did you expect the shiek dood to jump and dunk that **** on bush's head?

Come now. There is a difference between accepting a medal and prostrating yourself.

Let me see. On one hand, if a president bends because the other guy is shorter, he is bowing. On the other hand, if a president bends to accept a medal, he is accepting a medal. Gotcha!

However, presidents should never bow, whether because the other guy is shorter, or the other guy is presenting a medal. They should always curtsey instead.

come on danny, your smarter than this. his head was well below his chin, obama bowed. bush even in receiving a medal technically did not bow as his head remained above the chin. ;)

but how should the guy have placed the medal on an upright bush? step stool? small ladder?

Obama was about rod and tackle high, and there was no medal given....

obama would have looked manlier not bowing down to the package level. ;)

Getting angry over Obama bowing to a world leader in a fashion that is customary in Saudi Araba is the same kind of macho pissing contest that has destroyed the image of America worldwide. Obama is doing a good job of restoring relations because he respects the leaders he meets, even if he disagrees with them.

The days of cowboy diplomacy are gone. Get over it.

Cowboy vs coward.....I think I'd prefer the cowboy.

Good relations aren't when you respect other people, but when other people respect you. Given the empty hands Dear Leader is bringing back from his latest world tour, his style of respect is not being returned. His style of diplomacy is marginalizing the United States.

Nobody saw Bush kissing the saudi king in crawford texas? and holding his hand as he led him away?

Oh come now. You know Bush was not being subservient here. He and the king were only testing the political waters on the issue of gay marriage in Texas and Saudi Arabia.

My problem with that situation is not that he bowed, but that the bow was not reciprocated (sp).

So a USA gay marriage can be legal in S.A. and vice versa?
Suppose Bush led him to the barn, where he keeps sheep? If might not be about gay marriage at all...
