Do you know whats funny about this. If he does vote yes on any bill he will be doing what most of the politicians here in the US do which is vote yes on bills they didn't read. As long he keeps his promise to not do anything other than report what the politicians are doing he will probably be a very popular politician in Brazil.

No joke! Illiterate clown triumphs in election - World news - Americas - msnbc.com

SAO PAULO — Voters the world over complain about having clowns for politicians, but Brazilians embraced the idea on Sunday by sending a real one to Congress with more votes than any other candidate.

Francisco Everardo Oliveira Silva, better known by his clown name Tiririca, received more than 1.3 million votes in Sao Paulo state in Brazil's presidential and congressional elections. That was more than double the votes of the second-placed candidate in Brazil's most populous state.

Tiririca caught the attention of disillusioned voters by asking for their support with the humorous slogan: "It can't get any worse" and a promise to do nothing more in Congress than report back to them on how politicians spend their time.

"What does a congressman do? The truth is I don't know, but vote for me and I'll tell you," the 45-year-old said in his campaign advertisements.

I'd vote for him over a lot of the candidates on offer in the November elections here.

I second that motion. We might as well be honest about the quality of our elected representatives.

No story here. We've got Brazil beat by a mile. We have been sending clowns to the White House since 1992.
I'm thinking we started LONG before that.

This is funny and we can get few yucks out of it until you stop and see what it really means.

Tiririca's well-financed campaign will help elect other politicians because under Brazil's election rules he can pass his substantial excess votes on to other candidates in his coalition, which includes the ruling Workers' Party.
The Workers Party are Socialists and this is a clever even "Machiavellian" way to manipulate control of an election.

While people are yucking it up votes are being used to affects the outcomes I which people can read under the weird rules they have.

Suddenly it sort of takes a lot of the fun out of it.

OMGZZZZZZZZZZ teh commie are conspiracing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!

Despite the fact what you posted doesn't even say to which party he will pass his vote to, or even if he'll pass it on at all, and obviously they Brazilian people aren't too worried about Teh Commies, or they wouldn't have elected them.

Given that Lula and the probable next leader of Brazil are/were former marxist/socialsts, ( the current leader in the Brazial pres election was put in jail by the fascist dicatorship for being a marxist for a couple of years), I dont think many Brazilians are particularly concerned about politicians being socialists or marxists, especially as the Brazilain economy has being doing well over the last few years ( generally not because of its politicians)

If this guy came to the US, I'd vote for him for any office he chose to run for.
Many people had this exact vote-for-the-fool-regardless mentality in 2008, and look where it's taken us.

Um, no, that's not where I'm coming from, not the least little bit.

I've said on several occasions that we should legally require our elected officials to wear clown suits -- and here's a guy who wears one professionally.
