NHL 2013 Thread.

It is tweet, not tweat. And secondly, Canada should just hide Don Cherry from the world already. Those suits will kill someone one day. If Barney Stinson was a real person he would probably try to have Don Cherry arrest for crimes against suits.

Does Barry Melrose still have that mullet? It's been a while since I've watched hockey. The guy is pretty knowledgeable, and he provides halfway decent commentary, but that hair is just...so damned Canadian.

If you don't understand or appreciate Canadian's love for Don Cherry, you'll never understand or appreciate who we are as Canadians.

I'm from the US and I love Don Cherry.

And that is why the world thinks Canada is a joke. Defense of the suits that man wears. Pretty sure Queer Eye for a Straight Guy died the minute they saw his suits because there is no coming back from that.

I feel pretty safe in betting that more people would consider you a joke than Canada, but thanks for cementing my impression of your ignorance of Canada. Funny how some Americans are fixated on appearance - pretty much explains a disaster like Obama being elected, not once, but twice.

Bro, I've been to Canada many times, in fact my godparents live outside of Halifax and I almost went to McGill. It was a joke relax. Cherry is really easy to pick on because of the suits. Go ahead and call Tom Brady as gay as you want, especially when he had his Bieber cut going on. I'd probably laugh and agree too.

Yje problem with Don Cherry is not what he wears, but what he says. Visors will lead to a bunch of guys acting tough but not fighting. The NHL is trying to take hitting out of the game, and so on.

There's very little that Don Cherry says that people in Canada who know and love hockey don't agree with. He wasn't voted one of the greatest Canadians of all time by people in Canada because he's out of touch with our views. Don Cherry is a true Canadian patriot, a strong supporter of Canadian service men and women, police, firefighters, etc. and he doesn't just speak things Canadian, he lives and breathes them and he wears his heart on his sleeve.

His heart is plaid?

DC tears up watching Bobby Orr highlights. He's alright by me.

NHL joins effort to get gay slurs out of sports.....

The National Hockey League on Thursday formed a partnership with You Can Play, an organization that promotes equality for gay and lesbian athletes, hoping to make the league more welcoming to gay players, fans and officials.

The NHL is the first of the four major U.S. professional sports leagues to sign up with the year-old organization, which aims to make players more sensitive to the atmosphere of “casual homophobia” that can exist in locker rooms.

The league said it would launch an education campaign targeting players and fans intended to promote tolerance.

“Our motto is ‘Hockey Is For Everyone,’” said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. “The official policy of the NHL is one of inclusion on the ice, in our locker rooms and in the stands.”

So far no pro athlete in any of the four major U.S. sports leagues — a list that also includes Major League Baseball, the National Football League and the National Basketball Association — has come out as gay during his career.

Some, including former NFL defensive back Wade Davis, NBA center John Amaechi and MLB outfielder Billy Bean, have come out after retiring from their sports.....snip~

The Hawks beat Detroit tonight.....in a Shoot out 3-2, and finishing up their last game against them for the season. We could end up playing Detroit in the First round. Although there are like 3 teams right on their azz.

Hawks Beat the Blues in a Shutout Day-game yesterday. 2-0 and 30 Saves for Crawford. Hawks now have 7 Shutouts this season. They also clinched First. Looks like there is a scramble for the last seat. Detroit may not make it for the first time in over 20 years.

Tonight we have Dallas.

And Dallas got embarrassed by the Hawks.

The Hawks are looking strong, even without Sharp. Crawford and Emery are the second and third best goalies in the NHL, Towes and Hossa lead the league in takeaways. Both of those guys have been amazing to watch this year.

So how long do you all think Bryzgalov is a Flyer after the end of the season? Two years ago, Flyers GM: "we are not going to have a goalie controversy here again", 2 underperforming seasons, trade away a backup better than your high payed starter(and Bobrovski might win postseason awards for his season, he is possibly the best goalie in the league), and I would have to say that is one major failed prediction by the Flyers.
