NFL Pizza

Dominos was the only pizza place I could never bring myself to eat the crusts. Card board. But it has been awhile.

Y'all are eating some interesting cardboard, I don't know of any that would taste like pizza, lol.

dude... they are nothing alike whatsoever. Teddy was a trust buster. Trump puts the robber barrons in his cabinet.

And now we all know how wrong that line of thought was. In fact, Trump goes it thinking of making them a rich only playground.

Just because he was a trust buster doesn't mean anything O_o... that's the epitome of a populist btw lol....

Try to listen what academics/historians have to say about his politics.

I live in NY, so mom and pop pizza places get ALL of my business.. I will happily pay more for a good pizza. Last time I had 'franchise' pizza was 8-10 years ago, I was at a friend of ours kids birthday party. And they had Little Caesars. My God, it was more than awful. I took 1 bite then secretly tried to give the rest to their dog, he didn't even want it.

I'm pretty sure 'Papa John's' is just as bad. They are all bad.

Teddy would do the same thing today to this Gilded Age as he did to the First one.

All imho, Teddy's role in passing the 16th and 17th amendments with WJ Bryan was progress--ive, now in the cross-hairs of today's gop.
Then there's the newly retrofitted Panama Canal as of last year, the PC he finished 100+ years ago.
The PC is now able to carry 3 times the cargo per ship.

Teddy was pigeon-holed by the Gilded Wing as VP when McKinley was assassinated.
He turned down a 3rd term, only to Bull-moose Taft in 1912.

There are so many great reasons why Teddy is one of the four Great Faces on Mt. Rushmore, the National Park System at the top.
For me, it's also about the National Forests and National Monuments, both under siege from Trump and Zinke.
And as always, I miss the 4-corner states every day, along with the upper 3--ID, MT, and WY ...

Yea, we have 5 pizza shops in Monroe and a Domino's. Any of the 5 is better than Pizza Hut or Papa John's. We used to have a Pizza Hut but its now a burger place. The 2 nice things about pizza hut were the salad bar and beer.

Here's what's so funny about the robber barrons back then. During the 1896 election they were absolutely terrified of the democrat running named William Jennings Bryan. He was going to shake things up real hard for them and he was a strong campaigner. McKinnley just sat back and let the robber barrons run his campaign for him funding all sorts of banners flown all over the place. McKinnely barely campaigned outside of his front porch where he gave speeches from time to time. Then the robber barrons had the republicans jam teddy in as veep to kill his political career and teddy obliged but admitted it would kill his career. Those robber barrons had it all tied with a pretty bow. Then McKinnley gets shot and ruins everything they thought they had. Hilarious.

Look at the good that came of debates between TR and WJB.
That's why we call that the progress--ive era.
I do see another good debate era coming again, especially with Northeast GOPs growing in strength. (tres loves that)

And sure, the 18th amendment gave us problems we still have, like the Mob as we know it.
Everything ever prohibited has flourished.

It really was the Evangelical-type states favoring prohibition.
Kansas was still dry in the 1970s.
Where I went to college, Illinois State, Normal, IL was still dry in 1971 due to land donated by the Adlai Stevenson family.
My first trip to Utah in 1973, you had to BYOB from Colorado, unless you belonged to a club.

The scary part of the 1st Gilded age is it ended with the Great Depression.
If we don't fix the PENSION mess top to bottom, we'll see another next decade, 100 years or so to the date ...

There's Caesars, and Pizza Huts and Papa John's around here. There 4-5 colleges in my area, so I think those type of places get quite a bit of the college crowd. No matter what it tastes like, 5-6 bucks for a pizza for kids on a college budget looks good.

But people who live in the area mostly go to the Mom and Pop pizza shops. They're more expensive, but their pizza is 50 times better. There's a couple of Mom and Pop pizza places here that only sell pizza, they have no delivery, no sit-down business, no pasta, no breads. Just take-out pizza, for 14-15 bucks, their pizza is GREAT so they are always busy.

I'm looking in to getting a pizza cooker. My wife's uncle is selling me on the idea.

He said they get all crazy inventive with making pizza's now. While your oven gets up to 450 to 500 degrees, he said this thing has a pizza stone in it and gets up to around 700 to 800 degrees and does it right.

Go for a true backyard brick oven!

I can't comment on pizza hut because i haven't had them in years and dont recall how good/bad it was. I know papa john's sucks but I do like their garlic butter. But there are no papa john's in Santa Fe so I don't eat that either.

Uppercrust!

I'm actually fine with it, when the mood strikes. But I consider it something more akin to a casserole.

I consider this, to be pizza perfection:

(and yes, the charring of the edges is critically important)

Location needed!

Looks like a good cracker crust tavern style - I’d say Barnabys, but I don’t think they offer giardinera on their pizza. Candlelite Bowl?

Pizza Hut uses canned mushrooms, John's uses fresh. No one wants canned mushrooms.

Wrong, i want that if im picking between those two things on pizza and so do millions lol ;) its ll just personal preference though.

when it comes to mushrooms on "pizza" i couldn't disagree more. I think the biggest mistake is using fresh tasteless Styrofoam mushrooms on pizza, why? they offer ZERO taste, its stupid.

now when it comes to salad sure, give me the fresh all day.
snack tray? fresh!
soup? it depends on the soup could go either way
burgers, sandwiches and subs, canned

now with that being said if we are comparing JUST pizzas poppa johns is better hands down I agree but they are both basement pizza places really. In my area the vast majority of mom and pops beat them both rather easily. Also a side note, in the pittsburgh I have NEVER come across a mom and pop that used fresh musrooms. Maybe its a location thing?

I will say poppa johns is probably one of the two best national chains IMO but again thats not really saying much.
What are really the national chains in america i wonder? Pizza Hut, Sbarro, dominoes, poppa johns, little ceasar's? Do those count?

of those id rank them

Sbarro
Poppa Johns
Dominoes
little ceasars/pizza tie

LMAO ok now with all that out the way, good for Manning if thats what he wanted to do. His choice. As for Pappa johns IMO he was very stupid for speaking out on such a hot topic issue. its a lose lose really.

As for the NFL, Id guess they dont care one bit, that relationship only works in one direction.

buahahahahahhaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

I had thin crust in chicago, it's real, it doesn't suck, but doesnt hold a candle to ny.

and the deep dish I consider a casserole, that said, I thought it sucked until I had poquads.

I’ve been to NYC a dozen times and tried tons of pizza. I never got anything very good...It’s all just OK in comparison to the best thin Chicago pizza, although There was one place on 9th and about 57th, Sacco’s, that was outstanding.

Grimaldi’s is good too, but neither hold a candle to something like Vito and Nicks in Chicago.

So, what about anchovies? I'm a fan, in moderation......PH, PJ, Dom don't offer them......

You probably got suckered into a dollar slice spot. You cant really compare the two as one is a caserole.

If you ever end up at hari's kinchleys, id love to buy you a pie

My old stomping grounds.....

There was an old school brick oven place martios or something in nanuet that was also excellent.

Long before brick ovens were cool

I don't remember the one in Nanuet. I do remember White Castle, especially when I was going to RCC.

No- I get that Rays pizza and clones are gonna suck.

But I’ve been to a bunch of other spots- John’s, Lombardi’s etc.

Not great.

Makes me wonder how good the pizza in NYC can be when you have to direct me to Kinchleys, which is in bumble**** NJ...

Your comment just shows your ignorance. I'll buy you a slice anywhere you want next time you are in town
