New York Bill to force Chick-Filet to stay open on Sunday's

No legislation targeted disney. It purely targeted an arm of Florida state government, the Ready Creek Improvement District, states can modify the legal arraignment of state government agencies. This is not attainder. Disney as a private business was not a party fo this legislation

New York is modifying the legal arraignment of state government agencies (New York Thruway Authority and New York Port Authority). CF as a private business was not a party fo this legislation.

So we're good.

Glad to hear.

WW

Yeah, I’m sure the other fast food outlets on the thruway rest stops are really heartbroken about more business on Sunday

I wonder if we should pass legislation mandating all government offices and all banks for that matter be open 7 days a week
For government offices, such as the post office or social security offices, voter registrars, abso-freaking-lutely they should be open on the weekends.

Banks are private businesses though and typically do not lease space from a government entity.

CF holds actual leases with the thruway.

No, because the purpose of this legislation is to sidestep the normal contracting process to target one business.

And those leases will be honored. The new rule, if passed, only applies to new/renewal leases. Existing leases are not changed.

No, because the purpose of this legislation is to sidestep the normal contracting process to target one business.

Actually it is equally applied to all business. A Jewish Deli that is closed on Friday/Saturday sunset would also not be eligible to function as one of the Service Plaza food court vendors.

WW

Can you people stop gaslighting and just admit you support targeting businesses because you don’t like their owners?
Bull. I never said any such thing.. Actually I said a few times the state should not have let CF lease on the Truway knowing that they will be closed on Sunday...

The OP made it sound like this bill said all CF had to stay open on Sunday... That's not true..

You Trumpsters lie and accuse others of things that's not true... Shameful..

I never claimed it was attainder. I simply compared it to your claim of targeting a specific business because they were unhappy with the owners. Which is what you claim the left is doing. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Yeah but government workers don’t want to work those days. And if Senator crapface actually proposed a bill to do that the public sector workers unions would throw a fit and he’d be out of office since those people own blue state politics.

The real issue is purportedly for the benefit of the monied elite who do weekend road trips he wants to force lower class restaurant workers to work

...it helps that the author literally wrote it in, as cited.
I talked to my wife a bit about this thing and she had an interesting perspective.

She was raised in the church while I was raised by parents who continue to be rather militant atheists. She explained that there are Christians who feel and understand their faith through cultural attachment tokens like chick fil a’s hours and she suggested that I may be missing this context due to my coming into Christianity through a very different path (and my general introversion that keeps me from caring about cultural tokens much in general).

I can’t say I fully understand her point but she and I will talk about this more. There seems to be some level of emotional reasoning that I am abstracting away.

Going a day without food is a bit different than going a day without banking services.

No restaurant is entitled to special access for travelers.

Maybe, but having those offices open on the weekends would be good for the poor.

are you going Marxist here?

Oh yeah I’m sure the thruway is full of starving people who just need a classic chicken sandwich from CfA. Those rest stops are like the border at Tijuana full of starving kids trying to sell you gum. Evil Dan Cathy just won’t feed them 🙄

Seems like yet another case of the retards in NYC shooting themselves in the foot. They are essentially guaranteeing a successful franchise will not open new stores in their city thus not employing hundreds and potentially thousands. Seem like the same retards that also pulled their idiocy with Amazon.

Leftists are such tragic ****ing retards.

Yeah but not for the workers.

It’s kind of like all the hate the libbos we’re heaping on the postal worker who went to the Supreme Court over working on Sundays, even though when he was hired he never had to work sundays then they changed everyone’s schedule for Amazon deliveries because the burgeois wanted their packages on Sunday they wouldn’t be stolen.

There is some value on Marxian analysis especially since we have a rapacious upper class that accumulated privileges to themselves while acting outraged that others want the same ones. It’s like with CfA, chick fil A has the highest satisfaction of fast food workers in the industry because they always have a weekend day off and are paid above average because the ownership believes in caring for their workers, and now the New York upper class hates them for it.

I’ve always felt the real reason the left hates the oil industry is because it’s the one remaining industrial concern in America where lower educated folks can make great wages and benefits

On the one side, I would oppose any bill that tried to force a private business to adhere to any hours other than what the business wanted. The basis would not matter. I would doubly oppose any law that made any imposition on a private company based upon religion.

With that said, this bill, as I understand it in the article, does not do this to any private business. What it does is lay out the requirements for a business to be a part of a transportations facility. Religious freedom does nothing to guarantee having a place in another's facilities, especially since they are not forced to be in said facility. They can either comply with the facilities rules, or they can not be there. Their religious freedom is intact and they can run their business any way they want outside of that facility. IF they want in the facility, they have to be willing to abide by the facility's rules. This bill would also apply to say a Jewish business that would normally be closed during their Sabbath's hours, again from what I could glean from the article. Further, the bill does give the exemption to any business already in place at these facilities. So any current Chick-fil-a would not have to stay open on Sunday. It would only apply to any newly opened location within those facilities.

There is no violation of rights here.
Good response.

Yeah but not for the workers.

Just hire more staff then.

Yeah you just went a weird and paranoid direction there.

So far the discussion is the mechanics of the law. They are not in dispute.

What needs discussed is what's the intent behind the law? I argue its a way to punish Christianity in the name of States rights to raise revenue via taxation.
It certainly provides you, Lindsay, and religious/political hysterics with polemical fodder to shriek "Christian persecution!" even though it's incorrect. I'm sure it will be painted by those types as one step removed from gas chambers.

LOL, Lindsey Graham declaring war on NY is trying very hard to remain relevant. @maquiscat's post wins the thread imo. Those with challenged reading and comprehension skills will react with hysterics and should remain close to their fainting couches.

Well at least those tragic ****ing retards know this has nothing to do with opening stores in cities, that issue is about vendor placement in Service Plaza's on public transportation thruways.

The headline was written to provoke and it worked. We are a species with a large number of members who are easily led by their noses.

It's not NYC. Unless you're one of those people that when someone mentions NY, you automatically think NYC. If so, then you be you.

Not nyc.. If you read any posts here, except the OP... You would know that... But yeah, lie about this, call names.. Be a Trumpster..

This has zero to do with NYC or outlets in commercial spaces. Does CF even do franchises ?

It certainly is persecution.

There was no issue with this on New York thruway for 70 years then suddenly when a contract is signed with CfA after review and bidding process by the thruway authority now we have to impose rules to stop CfA.

The democrats openly use public contract bidding as a form of social engineering
