Did you read the link, roughly 40% of 'expedited removals' are caught at the border immigrants. Not immigrants who have lived in the Republic for years. Not immigrants going to their court dates. Not immigrants given protected status. Not students getting their visas arbitrarily revoked.
I'm all for rounding up dangerous criminals up and sending them out of the country. I'm not for masked unidentified 'agents' scooping students up off the street because they don't kowtow to the TACO in chief's hatred.
The problem with demanding a high number of apprehensions is the catch is a very dilute population. Personnel that should be focused on catching the most violent, who are hiding, are spread thin across the nation grabbing up low hanging fruit who are going to their court dates, some of which has protected status.
Afghans who helped us fight the Taliban, which the MAGAnuts demanded Biden do every and anything to bring over have now been stripped of their protected status. No real reason other than open up the quarry list on those who have kept up to date with the feds.
So, it's a numbers game because TACO loves to inflate numbers- by fair means, foul or outright lies...

The problem is the number of illegal aliens entering the US who weren’t removed. If Jose illegally entered the US 5 times and was removed 4 times - he was counted as 4 removals, yet is still inside the US.

Being a sanctuary city doesn't stop FELONS from being rounded up, doesn't stop the US Marshals from raiding gang sponsored night clubs, and doesn't stop ICE from removing FELONS from prisons. What it does is try and stop a misdemeanor arrest or routine traffic stop from resulting in deportation.
FELONS are the priority, not people who did an improper lane change....

It stops the transfer of illegal aliens while under arrest and already in state/local custody to ICE, instead of requiring ICE to try to find them after release. Folks aren’t arrested and placed in custody for a “routine traffic stop”.
