Near Miss In Chicago

I have no idea.
You seem quick to lay this on ATC. I see you liked post #20, the controller cannot make the aircraft “hold short” of the active runway.

If it was a pilot error, I imagine ATC thought he was going to stop short of the runway. But those little jets dart around pretty quick.
Based upon the “call for number, pilot deviation” transmission, it appears ATC knows who they think is at fault.

That’s same as pap telling you to go “cut a switch,” imo.

In other words, the ATC doesn’t have any control over the aircraft. ;)

The plane that was landing had priority. The aircraft on the ground had been instructed to hold short of the runway and just kept goung
And that pilot will likely lose his license. The Southwest pilot deserves a raise.

Insanely safer than driving down your local highway...

More Republicans are gonna die due to Trump/Elon. Including kids.

MAGA just don't care.

Hmm… do you think that (near miss?) incident means ATC was doing a good job?
I reviewed the recording of the Ground frequency. Tower told the guy what to do, twice. Cross 31L, hold short 31C. Guy rolled right on through 31C anyway.

None of this is on the tower.

Almost the same thing happened on a flight I was on years ago. At one or two am we came in to land and the pilot pulled up sharply as another plane was taxiing into our plane’s path. I could see it unfold out the window. No panic on board as unlike me, others were dozing with windows lowered. The thrust of our plane was significant, though, and I imagine wakened some.

Yes. The ATC told the smaller aircraft to hold position and the smaller aircraft ignored the command.

Fun question: How many ATCs were on duty?

How did Trump make a pilot blow past a hold short line?
Simple! He didn't hire a bunch of gender non-conforming people of color with compelling life stories to telepathically control aircraft both on the field and in the air.
