Near Miss In Chicago

That was scary. I don't know what the solution is to prevent this from ever happening.

Currently the President's bestie is firing FAA employees. We'll see how that works out.

Hmm… do you think that (near miss?) incident means ATC was doing a good job?

That’ll pucker up the pilot!

Just seconds later and SW would not have been able to pull up. Either a lack of ATC or somebody was flat out ignoring them. Somebody's head needs to roll.

Don't know yet. I read earlier today that the private jet wasn't cleared to cross the active runway

Yep, but it wasn’t stopped and the landing pilot wasn’t warned.

So much questionable blame-placing in his thread already.

If the taxing plane was not cleared to cross the landing runway - as airport authorities seem to be claiming - the taxing plane crew is 100% at fault. No plane can taxi across runways - active or not - unless given explicit directions to do so. It's a pre-eminent rule of airport ground-traffic operations

How will firing a bunch of them and overworking those left help?

I'm pretty sure I don't want someone who has to handle 100s of flights and hour being forced to do loads of overtime because of shortages of controller's.

I never said “firing a bunch of them” would help, but why have them if they don’t prevent these ‘incidents’? I’d rather have my flight delayed or cancelled than have it end up in a crash.

Can you imagine what the passengers were thinking when this happened?

We need the ATC staffed with more gender non-conforming people of color with compelling life stories.
