Now there is a totally retarded waste of congresses time.
Well, they could have been "working". <shudders at the thought>Now there is a totally retarded waste of congresses time.
Is there a way to find out the dollar amount tied to this? As in, how much was the person being paid who write the bill, how long it took them, and then how much each senator was paid, to vote on it, how long it took them, etc?
I think that would be a pretty cool idea...start attaching dollar amounts to bills...and then advertising that to the general public.
I do have to wonder just how many jobs this reaffirmation created or saved. Let's ask Obama, if we can find him.
What stupidity, where are the jobs Mr. Boehner!!!!!!!!!!!!Here is the text of the non-binding resolution:
Reaffirming "In God We Trust" as the official motto of the United States and supporting and encouraging the public display of the national motto in all public buildings, public schools, and other government institutions.
I'm shocked that 163 democrats voted yes and only 8 voted no... Here's the list of who voted no:

The only surprise is that one republican is actually on that list.

Obama didn't vote in this resolution, FYI. The House decides their own agenda/calendar. Specifically, Boehner and Cantor decide it.

I would like to salute those Democrats that had the balls to vote against this bill.
Oh, I see. I did not think through my previous comments. You are correct. Things could have been worse.Well, they could have been "working". <shudders at the thought>

I personally don't think our motto should be "In God we trust".
It doesn't matter what our motto is. It has no legal significance whatsoever.
I disagree, there is noway in hell you know the motives of the people on either side of the vote. Not unless you're mind reader. The people who voted against it are pandering just as much as the people who voted for it -- the only right answer was to be absent from the vote so that you could use the time for something useful.
That's funny, an awful lot of this country (18-20%) DOESN'T trust in god. And that doesn't even count people who are simply lapsed in their religion. Not only is this a huge waste of time, but it's inaccurate.

Although, personally, as a player of a certain Mao-oriented card game, I would like it to be, "The Queen's got big big titties!"
the aforementioned card game
Depends on how big of a fan he is of wasting tax payers money on issues that have already been settled.I'm pretty sure Mr. Borlaug would have had no problem with the recent vote in Congress.
