Mystery Missile Launch Seen off Calif. Coast - CBS News

No one knows who the hell fired it. 35 miles off shore means only one thing could have fired it, a sub. Who's we are yet to find out. Could it be a show of force and military might by our bumbling leader for some hairball reason? Or is it another nation letting us know that they can get close enough and have the means to attack our shores?

Matters not, its like the 34 warships, it didn't happen.....Shhhhhh....go back to sleep.

You do realize where the Indian ocean is dont you?

And if you do, just why do you think the US might have 34 warships and an aircraft carrier in the region?

Just a hint it is not to protect Obama on a trip to India, and Indonesia

Testing the missile shield is not a show of force or a hairball reason. You cannot be suggesting that the US fired an ICBM just to show that we have them, right?

It's either missile shield, or aliens escaping and now we're gonna get busted for the space cash.

Or maybe North Korea!

Jesus. People never launch privately owned fireworks/rockets from their backyards.

Or do they... one TV Station calls it a missile and you all run with it. Can it be confirmed that its a "Missile" or did some guy build a rocket in his backyard?

THIS IS OBAMAS DOING! If those 34 warships were there they would have stopped the "missile" that did no damage!!!!!!

RAH RAH RAH SOcialism COmmunism! Detah panels hayefgiqlbflkhaiglauksdkjhksdg!!!!!!

For **** sake. Shut the **** up.

That's pretty messed up, I bet a lot of people thought it was time to find a fall out shelter.

VaultTec, save me.

Dude chill.

ICBM's and the like are very very different from model rockets.
In size, scope and range.

From what I just watched on FOX TV, KCAL-9 Los Angles and what I have heard on KFI, L.A. and KFMB, San Diego, according to all reports from Vandenberg, A.F.B. The NAVY, and NORAD, this never happened, they have no idea what might have happened or it wasn't them.

Pick as answer they gave them all.

Shortly after 9:00 pm last night something burning blue white fell out of the sky west of my location near Hemet,in Riverside County at hundreds of miles an hour.

Remember the Cruise missiles in a box ( Russian missles that would fit into a standard shipping cargo container)

Russia just had a test launch to promote sales

...............

What a stupid ass reply. If you took the time to watch the video, any moron could tell its was a large rocket not some backyard kit lauched 35 miles at sea.

Not sure what too think. I wonder if this was a asteroid or comet that came to earth, and people thought it was a missile. If what NORAD, and NASA are saying is true then someone is seriously wanting a death wish. However I'd bet the Fall out reference by Harry is what a lot of people were thinking.

Could this be the Battle of Los Angles all over again?

I would of said, it could be a home made cruise missile but it's way to big.
Gotta be something from the .gov.

Agreed!~ I think some thing could have activated it? But the thing is how could someone activate the thing without them known about it? So it got be something from the government, or a comet that crashed down too earth.

Oh really? Then why are their no radar signatures?

Thought the "contrail" explanation had some merit. (with the craft coming straight at the camera giving the illusion of going "up")

But am at work so i can't actually watch the video yet.....

.

Since when do asteroids or comments go up?

Its definitiely a missile launch. Only question is was it one of ours, which seems less likely with each passing hour of not claiming such, or one by another country sending some sort of message. Our government likely knows exactly, but is not saying publicly, while it musters a formidable reaction that we will probably hear about soon. With Obammy out of the country like this, it makes any reaction more awkward.

Dunno but that does seem like a decent sized missile. Gotta be military and if it's not, we've got maybe a squirmy little north korean (maybe Chinese?) sub off the coast of LA shooting off missiles to show they can.

I wouldn't be so sure. I've heard reports that poor intercommunication and turf wars are still going on. Remember this the government that wasn't suspicious about pilot trainees not interested in learning to land.

The trail was pretty large.
A homemade cruise missile shouldn't leave a trail that big and a homemade rocket would need an enormous, while secluded, launch area to lift off something that big and not be noticed.

Neither model rockets, nor fireworks have a large enough signature to show up on NORAD's scope.

Anything large enough to show up on NORAD's radar, definitely needs to be checked into.
