CA is not working out for him anymore.

"Musk announced on X on Tuesday that SpaceX is relocating from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, citing laws in California that are "attacking both families and companies."

He also said X would also move its headquarters to Austin from San Francisco, claiming that he has "had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building."

The billionaire CEO said the decision was a response to a bill signed Monday by Gov. Gavin Newsom that prohibits "forced disclosure" rules in public K-12 schools.

To Austin? Isn't that area relatively-non-MAGA?

Hope he doesn’t need electricity to run either of his businesses.

Maybe he can help TX fix their energy grid, lol.

It’s funny these right wingers always complain about drug addiction and gang violence, but only as a way to cast aspersions on blue cities. They don’t support any policies that would attempt to help these people. They just use them for their own cynical political objectives

The local and state tax collectors care. Got any idea how much those big companies contribute to the tax money that is collected?
We'll see how much he actually moves...a head office is nada. Moving plants and operations costs big money including staffing issues. Not the first time Musk mouthed off and did nothing.

Good point.

I mean, it's Elon....who gave some of his kids names like:

Techno Mechanicus Musk and
X AD A-XII Musk.

So, OF COURSE he'd oppose a bill that would prevent teachers from being forced to tell parents if Techno and X AD wanted to be called "Ted" and "Bill".

Yes, the removal of a major business from any state is certainly a financial hit to that state's economy/tax revenue.

He's personally offended by anything trans because he hates his own transgender child.

So, let's hear right wingers argue the case for having the government legally mandate engage in speech they disagree with.

The issue here is that this is Elon Musk. When he announces something,
- 40% of the time he never actually does it
- 40% of the time he does follow through, roughly 4-6 years late
- 20% of the time it does come to pass, but only a fraction of the total original claim

Musk has been like this for about two decades now, and everyone here in the SF Bay Area knows it and tends to shrug off his claims.

I'm sure he'll move these headquarters right after the new Tesla Roadster comes out in 2020.
