Multiple officers shot in "active and ongoing" situation in Philadelphia

If I remember correctly, the Philly mayor took out a whole block in a scenario very much like that 20 years ago or so.

The 'move' compound in 1985. It was a 'black power' movement, and they bombed the building, killing 5 children in addition to the adults, and destroyed the whole block.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

Well criminalization on the demand side solves nothing and has many negative effects since the very beginning of the drug war. The US has also been fighting the supply side for decades and yet not much has really changed either. What do you suggest they do?

If the use (abuse?) and possession of X is legal (or at least a misdemeanor offense such as the underage or public drinking of alcohol) then regulate and tax the sales of X (as is done with alcohol). To leave the multi-billion dollar industry of making and selling "recreational" drugs completely in the hands of criminals is simply insane. There is zero chance of eliminating the supply of "recreational" drugs as long as a huge demand for them exists.

Just like the people here glued to their computers watching the Live Stream.

Watching it on a live stream does not come with it a threat of gunfire. When the police say stay inside for your own safety due to active gun fire you would think people would take heed.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

I'm not blindly bigoted. It's called a whole lot of years of life experience and I grew up in philadelphia where the cop robbed me.

If it was a real cop.

People who watch live news streams are not impeding a police investigation or putting themselves in harm's way so I fail to see the similarity.

Not surprised.

Was responding to his statement " It may not be the best idea but it does seem to be something in human nature that makes people do this kind of thing". Just look back at the OJ Simpson Bronco chase and how many people were captivated by the slow police chase.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

Thanks for the link Trix. They told the people to stay inside and the dumb idiots are gathered on the street gawking.

Lookie-loo idiots.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

If it was a real cop.

Oh it was. And so was his partner standing next to him. So who's the bad cop? The one with the gun in my ribs or the one not saying anything? How about both are criminals.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

Hope one of them was the crooked bastard who stuck his gun in my ribs and robbed me.

Can the shooter claim the same defense the cops use? I thought they were reaching for their guns?

I don't really have a whole lot of sympathy for them since I think the cops in this country are out of control and they sure kill their fair share of innocent people.

So we can take it you would never call the cops when you're in an ahhhhshyte situation?

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

Lookie-loo idiots.

I have seen Lookie-loos or Rubber Neckers take part of a car from accident as some sort of souvenir. Nothing surprises me anymore.

I do not call heroin or fentanyl "recreational drugs". They are a death sentence. And the cartel for years has built a web of suppliers/distributors and they are targeting our youth with cheap hits for five bucks. After shooting up a couple of times, the young and dumb are addicted. And when that happens the cartel knows they have a return customer. Then the price of the drug goes up.

I have no idea who these people are that decided to have a shootout with the police. Are they U.S. citizens or illegal immigrants. Philly is a sanctuary city.

As the old saying goes, graveyards are filled with stupid people

OK, but if legal and regulated doses of stimulants, depressants and hallucinogens are available then why would anyone prefer to buy "street poisons" from hustlers instead? Once the great lie that marijuana should be on the same level (legal schedule?) as heroin is put forth by the government then oher important drug "facts" are bound to be questioned.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

I don't see this ending with a live suspect unless someone like his mother can talk him down.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

And, OF COURSE, the local rabid animals are now throwing things at the police who are trying to deal with this incredibly dangerous situation.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

Good! Not enough are incarcerated!!! Get those slimeballs off the streets!!!

Yeah!

What's $45k each to keep them locked up!

We can have that discussion later. Right now these heinous drugs need to be cut off from entering this country.

Been trying that for decades, so long as there is a demand... .there will be a supply. Got any other answers?

That long ago? Wow, time sure flies

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

What were you doing?

What's the difference what I was doing? Whatever I was or wasn't doing, I'm pretty sure the cops are not supposed to rob you at gun point.

What the hell is wrong w/ people these days? Seems like every week, there's another mass shooting. :(

I hope all of the injured make a full recovery.

Good luck with that brilliant plan.

It use to be marijuana. Now it is heroine, fentanyl and cocaine and the number of lives per year lost to overdoses is heartbreaking with a majority of our young the victims. When states started to legalize marijuana the cartel switched to more devastating drugs that turn people into addicts that become return customers.

I just turned 67 yesterday. In all my years have I seen such a breakdown in the mental health of our youth that so many need to find ways to escape and their choices end very badly. I have never seen such a number of youth opting for suicide. I know what is at the heart of the problem but those who live by the political correct protacol don't want to hear it.

So is it still too soon to politicize this event? If so someone should tell Harris ans CNN to hold off instead of campaigning at least till the shooter is neutralized or surrenders.

Re: At Least 4 Philadelphia Police Officers Shot In Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga Section, Officials

People in jail for life are almost entirely:

Repeat offenders, dealers that had weapons, or high up dealers with a huge amount.

No one gets thrown in jail for life for selling dimebags.

Ordinary pot charges, no kids, no weapons, no violence. Third charge some, but not all.
I can't cut-and-paste with this device but if you want you could Google "lifeforpot".
