Mueller releases memo summarizing FBI's interview with Michael Flynn

Flynns big mistake was that he trusted his government too much, that is not a place we as a people should want to end up....civilization to a large degree runs on trust, high profile gross betrayals such as this hurt us.

I am reminded of a simpler time, as a child, when I attended Vacation Bible School at Hibbard Memorial Baptist Church, we were taught a scripture.

Matt.7. [1] Judge not, that ye be not judged. [2] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. [3] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

What I took away from that lesson was that we should rightfully be judged by the same harshness as we judge others. If we must judge at all.

So, my two-cents is this.

It saddens me to see Gen. Flynn in the mess he's in. They say, one "Aw crap!" erases 10 "atta-boys."

He could have went into his golden year's as an honorable, well off man. Fate decided differently I suppose.

I have no malice in my heart for him. All the ongoing, non-stop Trump Corp., political shenanagans have worn me down and rendered me somewhat desensitized to all the filth and slime oozing from Washington. This is just another drop in a big ocean.

If they want to throw the book at him, throw the book at him. If they want to be merciful, be merciful.

But, back to what I opened with, if we are to be judged as we judge, then the answer to what we should do with Flynn is simple. By his own words, so shall he be judged.

Dear Judge Sullivan:

Pursuant to the Court’s Minute Order dated today, the government hereby
files two redacted versions of the FD-302 report summarizing the FBI’s interview of
the defendant on January 24, 2017. See Attachment. The content of both versions
of the report is identical, except that the first version, which was digitally signed
and certified in February 2017, inadvertently contained a header labeled “DRAFT
DOCUMENT/DELIBERATIVE MATERIAL.” Once that error was recognized, the
header was removed and a corrected version, omitting only the header, was resigned and re-certified in May 2017.

Not fishy at all and what is contained in the 302 really blows this silly notion that Flynn had been duped by the FBI clean out of the water. That's why I raised the old adage be careful what you ask for to another poster I believe who was railing on about the 302. The judge got what Flynn's team wanted him to ask for and the judge was not impressed and actually went ballistic on Flynn. He was ready to throw his ass jail today and actually asked whether or not the government had considered charging him with treason.
 

Of course such distinctions exist in the real world. A counter intelliegence investigation is distinct from a criminal investigation... The former is about gathering information. The latter is about investigating criminal activity.
 

AK, that's a broken evidence chain. It doesn't matter if there is a simple explanation or not.

You must not be talking to me. Because what I am talking about refers to a prosecutor having a broken evidence chain which in most circumstances would alleviate or nullify charges brought from that evidence.

Try it. Tell some parking spot ticket scribe you committed a murder, and see if he won't stop writing speeding tickets and take you over to homicide.

You've deluded yourself into thinking you can speak to LEOs and the boundaries between departments can save you.

A traffic cop is a law enforcement officer.

The note to which I responded expressed incredulity as to why Flynn would lie. An answer is that Strzok was known as a counter intelligence guy and not a criminal investigator. So Flynn could have interpreted the interview purpose as gathering information. Which is why he needed no lawyer and all that.
 
Yes, and an FBI agent in counter intelligence is an FBI agent nontheless. What's your argument here? That one FBI agent won't talk to another if he thinks a crime has been committed and a person has committed perjury?

Actually there are 2 lies.
Both to do with Kislyak.

But your idea that this could be some sort of deliberate set of actions is interesting.

I read the actual lies, and the circumstances of this debacle and think...'That's it? He lied about international relations? Isn't he supposed to be helping Israel by canvasing for support for them?'
The other is about Flynn having asked Kisnyak to not retaliate for the expulsions and property gleeps, the government did once they found out Russians had tried to hack party servers...and for posting a bunch of mean crap in Facebook about Hillary. An act that, to this day, makes me giggle. But whatever... Again...seems to me that such actions on Flynn's part, were part of him doing his job. Also seems to me that he obviously didn't really want to divulge that information to the FBI, or as you propose, decided to play "American Super Spy" in order to set himself up to be thrown under the bus?

So...for whatever reason, Flynn lied to FBI agents. One of them who happens to have been dismissed because of his obvious and threatening bias politically. I think it very possible that Flynn was made to feel quite at home with the impromptu meeting, for which he's told that lawyers would not be necessary. That wasn't quite true now...was it? No. Not really. In fact one might see that sort of thing as "dirty pool".
