Slowly, Trump is losing GOPer support for his acts of economic sabotage....

WASHINGTON, April 4 (Reuters) - A U.S. Senate bill that would require congressional approval for new tariffs gained more Republican support on Friday, on the second day of a stock market rout sparked by President Donald Trump's move to impose sweeping new taxes on imports.

Republican U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Jerry Moran of Kansas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina joined on as co-sponsors of a bill introduced on Thursday by Republican Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Democrat Maria Cantwell of Washington.

The bill would terminate new tariffs within 60 days unless the U.S. Congress explicitly approves them.

It's a shame it's only taken a potential new Great Depression for Congress to even start talking about not being Trump's court jesters.

I know I wrote my Republican Representative asking wtf he's doing while the President demolishes the global economy.

MAGA's won't let it pass because it would look bad for Donald the First (BBHN).

Even given the fact that the terminology makes it apply to "new' tariffs meaning no impact on current tariffs.

The unfortunate fact is, Trump has a great deal of influence over MAGA zealots all across the USA, who in turn have great deal of influence over the ballot box (so Republican representatives are MIA because they fear both Trump AND his MAGA zealots who vote)

Trump supporters’ Stockholm syndrome

Why do voters stick with Donald Trump despite his many character flaws and non-presidential behavior? Why are they transfixed by his snake oil pitches, knowing full well that he cannot deliver on his lofty promises?

Certainly, economic dislocation and lost trust in the workings of government have parts to play in the explanation. If we dig deeper, however, and try to understand the interpersonal and relational dynamic between Trump and his most vocal supporters, there seems to be a deeper, darker force afoot.

{mosads}When viewed from a clinical psychologist’s perspective, Trump controls his following much like a captor compels his hostages. He holds them with media frenzy and his personality cult while making promises that their release will soon come. In the meantime he demeans, vilifies and puts people down, giving voice to his followers’ anger but also humiliating and taking advantage of them.

The psychological phenomenon of such a relationship, where people idolize and make excuses for their captor, is known as Stockholm syndrome
.

The issue of understating how tariffs influence global trade is significant. The reality is that the average American has a limited understanding of the global economy's inner workings.

Relatable infographics could be a valuable tool to illustrate the economic AND political-mis-manage problem. However, it's important to acknowledge that presenting unpleasant truths can be challenging, as people often prefer comforting falsehoods.

Republican B.S. The tariffs already in place have done irreparable harm to our economy, our savings, and our allies.

"The President won his second round match-up of the Senior Club Championship today in Jupiter, FL, and advances to the Championship Round tomorrow," the White House said in its statement.

Trump is begging to be impeached and removed from office.
Have you noticed, as trump is causing irreparable harm to our economy, our government, and our relationships with our allies while pleasing our enemies. Republicans in Congress do nothing, say nothing.

The "centrist" Republicans need to switch parties. Now.

How about not applying new tariffs at all, let alone for 60 days, unless congress approves them? Stop the insanity of pissing off other countries.

They need to move.

Now.

No.

They don't need to change their affiliation to take Trump on. In fact, if they change, many will be destroyed in the mid-terms.

So, no, I am not guessing because I can't think of on good reason....at all.

I don't care. It's time that they take a stand or be remembered as supporting this.

Wow! 7 US Senators are co-sponsors. That’s well on the way to the 60 needed to get the bill on the floor. ;)

Trump ass-eater Mike Johnson already said the House won't consider any bills that limit Trump's executive orders on tariffs.

Until that changes, this won't go anywhere.

Johnson will change his mind when donors like Bill Ackman start pushing.

I hope you're right. But Johnson is so terrified of losing his Speaker job that it's really going to take a lot for him to change his position.

Over half of the Republicans in the House will have to be willing to split with Trump on the tariffs before someone as craven as Johnson will change his position.
