And who is calling people cheetahs or ducks? Calling an African American a monkey has a very specific meaning.

From what I hear, California wants to quarantine itself. The so-called 'Calexit' group wants to succeed from the U.S. I heard today they've even opened an embassy in Moscow. Interesting choice to open their first embassy.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings too much if they did succeed.

Good lord... so you hate californians. Big surprise. As far as why they are opening an embassy in moscow... the calexit group right now is a small group and one guy in there has a russian wife and he teaches ESL in Russia. That's they guy wanting to open the embassy there in moscow.

It's amazing how much reading has taken such a back seat to speculation.

u cited opinion pieces that dont prove a thing. calling people animal names aint racist. its not racist to call someone a monkey, a camel, a pigeon, or a dog.

didn't humans "evolve" from apes according to the theory of science? u guys cant keep ur story straight. its racist to call someone a name from which all humanity "evolved" from? if anything, its a compliment.

Yes, science has concluded that humanity evolved from apes. That literally doesn't change anything, however. If you'd bothered to pay attention you'd know that historically Africans have been compared as apes to dehumanize them and to help justify keeping them in bondage, and later to justify discriminating against them.

Just because whiskey tango scumbags who celebrate traitors and bemoan the "good ole days" where you could burn people alive for daring to work for civil rights think it's not racist to call African Americans "apes" or "coons" or to call someone the n word.....means they are full of ****. It's not a "compliment"

Because humans aren't still apes, genius. And calling somebody an ape is the oldest trick in the book to dehumanize them and justify all sorts of nasty bull****.

No, we wouldn't be. But we aren't still apes, and dehumanizing people by calling them apes has a long and horrific history. Read up on the Belgian Congo sometime if you want to lose your lunch.

how is it dehumanizin if apes are responsible for humans. apes are some of the smartest animals. if anythin, its a compliment. id be much more offended if someone called me a squirrel.

It's dehumanizing because people don't view apes and humans as equals, obviously. We evolved from them, becoming smarter, stronger, etc.

Nobody really cares about your opinion on squirrels. Culturally it is blatantly racist to refer to African Americans as apes. Nobody justified keeping white people as slaves well into the 19th century on the basis that white people were less then human.
