— here's proof he did

"He pinned much of the blame for the override on Obama himself, however, saying that the White House was too slow to warn about the "potential consequences" of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, known as the 9/11 victims bill.

"Everybody was aware of who the potential beneficiaries were, but nobody really had focused on the downside in terms of our international relationships," McConnell said, claiming that the White House failed to "communicate early about the potential consequences of a piece of legislation that was obviously very popular."

Yes, the republican senate leader claims President Obama should have warned him and congress about the legislation he let be voted on and then voted on again to override the president's veto. President Obama did warn them. More proof that republicans are unfit to govern.

Just out of curiosity...in total...how many democrats voted against the veto?

The reality is that Obama was probably right to veto this legislation. It has some pretty dire potential consequences. But its funny how you do what you always do...

'those evil republicans!!!'

Mitch is being ridiculous as always.

It's Congress' responsibility to debate all the positive and negative consequences of proposed bills.

97 to 1 and 348 to 77. Democrat support for Mr President was not good.

That is absolutely right.

Seriously?

Its like the kid who becomes a slacker with no job blaming his parents for not making him study hard enough...

The Congress didn't know that the 9/11 bill could have unintended consequences, and so needed an adult to tell them. Too bad there weren't any among their own ranks.

This is kind of funny. Mitch McConnell, the #1 Republican in Congress is complaining the POTUS didn't do McConnell's job for him.

I've said this so many times here I getting tired of reading it myself. But DAMN IT. Do Republicans EVER take responsibility for their own actions anymore? The party of self responsibility my ass.

Democratic Congressmen are certainly to blame too. But one person who sure isn't to blame, in this case, is Obama.

Exactly. OMG we're doomed.

Obviously not. Since he's the one who vetoed the bill in the first place.

Except in that example the kid at least has the excuse of being a kid. :)

Yep.. But with the Republicans like McConnell it's a reflex. It's as natural to him as breathing. When he, or the GOP F up, blame Obama.

oh Vance, English is a simple language. Nobody was talking about "evil republcans". I was talking about unfit-to-govern Republicans. Now please, suppress your emotional need to whine about me and respond to the thread topic: the most pathetic excuse heard outside a third grade classroom. And vance, it wasn't just the most pathetic excuse heard outside a third grade classroom, it was also a lie.

The fact is you ignored all the rats that voted to override the presidents veto and focused solely on the GOP. Because..well...its just...you.

I agree...crap. Thanks Obama.

the thread is not about the legislation. the thread is not about the veto. The thread is not about the veto override. The thread is about the most pathetic excuse heard outside a third grade classroom. And don't forget, it wasn't just the most pathetic excuse heard outside a third grade classroom, it was also a lie.

And vance, you said "It has some pretty dire potential consequences". So obviously don't agree with the veto override. Why are you posting about me instead the most pathetic excuse heard outside a third grade classroom from the leader of the senate. And it wasn't from a random senator or congressman. It was the leader of the senate.

Because your post shows you to be an extraordinary partisan hypocrite and therefore the content of your thread has zero validity. Your last line proves your partisan bent and intent...as if it was ever in question. "More proof that republicans are unfit to govern."

Seems obvious enough.

So, it's time that we, the people, quit voting for congresspeople who have the mentality of third graders, regardless of which party they belong to.

Congress is dysfunctional. We're their bosses. It's time to do some firing.

OK. 'Splain why the bill allowing the US to sue 9/11 conspirators, most living in the KSA, for damages is such a bad thing? Because this allows reciprocal lawsuits from other countries and organizations? Really?? Is, for example, every bill passed by the UN General Assembly binding for America? No. Is, for example, every bill passed by The Supreme People's Assembly in North Korea binding for America? No. Laws are defined within the country or body. Those laws aren't pertinent outside the country or body.

Will this give the US the ability to, for example, freeze assets of 9/11 conspirators within the KSA because of a successfully litigated lawsuit? Probably. There is the reciprocal impetus for American assets to be 'frozen' in the KSA...for whatever reason.

Are those who are against the 9/11 prosecution bill willing to prosecute radical Sunni Muslims? That's the makeup of ISIL, BTW. Radical Sunni Muslims.

Does the BO administration favor the Shia Muslim population? Iran is mostly Shia. Does the BO administration favor the Sunni Muslim population? The radical Muslims who overthrew Gadaffi in Libya with US support and help were Sunni Muslims.

The 9/11 bill doesn't favor either the Sunni or Shia Muslim faction of their Hatfield and McCoy blood feud. The 9/11 bill favors Americans.

Vance, the amazing thing isn't that you're still whining about me but that you think your whining shows the " content of your thread has zero validity". Vance, read this slowly: McConnell said what he said after he did what he did. If you want to somehow try to show that its not just more proof that republicans are unfit to govern then you need to post "Sure, McConnell said something pathetic, hypocritical and dishonest but its not another example of republicans being unfit to govern because......."

and on a quick side note, you are showing the 5 D's of conservatism: Dodge Deny Deflect Deceive Dodge.

Someone should tell McConnell about the existence of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

I think the Obama administration favors not creating an international incident and not opening the door for foreigners to sue the US government.

And, maybe it understands that the Saudi government, like the former government of Iraq, did not attack the WTC back in 2011.

and McConnel is beginning to understand also, and feverishly looking around for a way to blame Obama for a bad bill that he actually vetoed.

which is pretty pathetic, IMO.
