I'd know if I've seen this sentiment expressed any more clearly:

Every leader (and each of us) is human and flawed and makes mistakes, but there is a difference between those who are flawed who work for the common good and those who are flawed who could care less about the common good. Huge difference.

"Common good" being what she, Dowd, agrees with, of course.

In other words, if you're on my side politically I'll give you a pass on sexual assault.

Dowd says she's not saying that, but that's what she's saying. Or else I don't know why she even brings it up.

I suppose liberals had no choice but to try this gambit since they are rapidly running out of leading male politicians and media people.

I’m probably in their age group. Lived in nice communities my whole life. I can’t say that. I was severely sexually harassed by a man and his early 20’s something two sons for months as a waitress at a lunch counter at age sixteen. Never reported it to my boss who would have probably thrown their asses out for good because at just thought I had to handle it myself. Humiliating. And spent many a day doing the keep-away-from-me dance from bosses from, probably age 17 to 20. Then I grew claws. Oh, and all older men.

Yeah, maybe. We used to call these guys dirty old men. Remember, they pick their marks. Young thangs inexperienced in the ways of the world. In opposition to what you say, I was never sexually harassed by anyone my age or, probably, five years older. Did they try? Sure did. But even before the discovery of fire when I was a young girl, no meant no. Never a problem.
