Man who tried to rob Waffle House with an AK-47 is shot by customer - Houston Chronicle
Pistol v "High Powered Killing Machine". Pistol wins.
Now, for my anti-carry/anti-ownership friends, the suspect had already left the store when the civilian engaged him. Was he still a threat?
A handgun-licensed customer, whose wife was on her way to meet him at the restaurant, followed Cooper to the parking lot, fearing for his wife's safety, according to DeSoto police.
Police said the customer called to Cooper once they were outside. Cooper pointed the AK-47 in the customer's direction, prompting the customer to shoot Cooper several times, according to police in the southern Dallas suburb.

Who would rob a Waffle House?

To me fear for his wife seems a reasonable justification to follow the guy out - I would have done the same thing. But unless the wife was there and he was heading for her he might be on sketchy ground with calling out to the guy.

Even an idiot could assemble a functional gun in a few hours from plumbing parts. Now imagine if niether had a gun in the first place ?

Are there no robberies in England, where guns are difficult to come by?A more likely scenario is that there would have been no attempted robbery in the first place

This does not look like rocket science,No. Not an idiot. You would need to be a decently intelligent person and not totally mad.
That generally puts the thing out of the reach of most who want to kill people.
Good guy 1 / Bad guy 0 - handgun versus oh so scary "military style assault weapon." The so called MILITARY STYLE ASSAULT WEAPON didn't do well against a civilian with a civilian style little ole pistol. Imagine that. Sure doesn't fit the current narrative.
