Hmm....a dad posing with his daughter and a gun (even a BB gun) makes PERFECT sense to me.

You can thank the local police for this type of stupidity. I'm sure that some will try to pin this on Obama but really this is your local police hard at work harassing the citizens, nothing more.

When will people stop posting on Facebook? There is nothing dumber than putting pictures and info out in public.

There's more to the story.

I'm pretty sure it's legal to pose with a gun and a child in the same picture, even holding the child. I think this was misinterpreted (?) as a threat and the police response was grasping at strings to try to prevent what might have been a bad event and to gather some information before releasing the suspect.

The important thing here is GUN IN HAND, BB gun or not, to allow a picture to be taken of yourself like that shows poor all around judgement.

In what world? I don't see anything wrong with it at all. You'll certainly be holding a gun in your hand when you teach your kid to shoot. That right there is as American as baseball, apple pie, and intolerance.

Just anther way the press puts a name on a news article that is misleading. Normal they just have the first 2 or 3 paragraphs point out somethings then give you the whole story later on. Most people only read the first 2-3 paragraphs of a news article.

I carry openly and I have a 7 month old. It is very common to see me with a my son on one hip and my sidearm on the other. But did you look at the picture of this guy, come on, you can not argue "responsible gun owner" here.

Did anyone read the story?

It was a BB gun he was playing with his nephews who were also over. The BB gun was empty. His brother came by and wanted a picture who posted it on facebook. The mother told the grandmother who freaked and called the police.

The guy explained it was a mistake. Yet he is still being held in the county lockup on $2000 dollars bond?

WTF is wrong with people today?

He did nothing wrong, and is in jail for nothing, absolutely nothing. I mean hell if it was a white man, or a rich man would they also be held on bond for this stupid over reaction?

Probably. I get the impression that this was as much about the current uproar regarding guns as it was anything else. That being said, his wife is white so based on nothing other than the fact that people are people, there may well have been more to the matter and if so it wouldn't surprise me.

And then people wonder why black men make up the most in violent crimes etc in prison. Between welfare, and the destruction of black family's due to drugs, gangs, pop culture and the drug trade. 50% or more of the young adult male black population in prison for much longer periods and harsher sentencing than white offenders. The disparity is ridiculous.

Then we have stupid sxit like this. And people wonder why black men in particular are pissed and so racist. I mean damn.

I agree with you.

The thug culture doesn't do any favors for young black men as it simply validates the baseless fears that some whites (and asians and hispanics) have. It can't be easy as a teen or early 20's black man with trying to fit in in what amounts to two cultures on top of all the other normal teen stuff.

I'm not normally one to cry racism, but this never would've happened if an upstanding looking white person had done the same picture.

You did read the part where this was a BB gun right? (BB gun is also another way to say Air-soft gun as well) and he was playing with his nephews? The man did nothing wrong.

As has been said before, I don't go down the "racist" road, but just because the guy is wearing a hoodie and what you call a "stupid dress" doesn't mean he is doing anything wrong in this photo. This whole thing is bull****.

No and yes and maybe. Obama no doubt created the "entitlement" atmosphere so the police felt entitled to make much ado about nothing, while getting extra credits for their Shakespearian approach.

It's good to have a catch-all blame objective, maybe that's why he was voted for by so many people.
