I'm not making any claims either way about how this plays out long term, but if you want to analyze the effect of the vote, you kinda need to look at currencies. The pound lost something like 10% of its buying power overnight relative to the Euro and also the USD. It affects your analysis in a pretty major way.

I think we will still have to wait. But you are right that these symptoms do not sound happy. But it is unfathomable that the EU is again treating a situation as irresponsibly as it is after all the self induced crises with the catastrophic results for economies and present populations.

As I said, we shall have to wait. The currencies are out of wack and bouncing. But we don't know enough to really tell where we are going. But it is clear that the EU is doing a remarkably odd job of crisis management. It's as though they were teenagers in a turf battle.

One more for funsies, Merkel's party (CDU) is considered center-right and the opposition parties in the Bundestag? The SPD (Social democrats), LINKE (democratic socialists), and GRUNE (Green party).
