Long-concealed Records Show Trump's Chronic Losses and Years of Tax Avoidance

He is STILL not running for office. When Hunter Biden runs for office I will worry about where he gets his money and how much he pays in taxes. Until then....its irrelevant drivel.
Don Jr. wasn't running for office either was he? Just seems a bit odd that for three years you guys claimed that Russian interference was the greatest crisis facing our democracy, and when you find out that a Russian oligarch gave $3,500,0000 to the son of one of the candidates for President , it is all of a sudden irrlevant.

Buildings and golf courses are both depreciable assets. If you have a bitch with Trumps taxes, take it up with congress and the IRS. Otherwise.................
Trump is the president should'ent he be the one to "bitch" to the IRS, and congress? All this is about is whether not paying taxes is right or wrong?

Taxes are a good thing! If more people paid taxes without trying to loophole out of doing so and the taxes paid weren't miss used, this would be a better place to live?

How much of that would he have made if he was a janitor vice a senator? Why are you defending the political class?
Someone needs to defend them , right. You know the little people. 🤣
You were the one complaining Biden is a millionaire when he has been in politics for so long.

If an illegal alien gets a job using fake ID they still pay taxes (both income and payroll). The taxes are withheld from their checks just like everybody else.
Calm down Greg. I'll sponsor you to help you get your green card if you like. Just promise me you are not a murderer and rapist.

Biden didn't exchange a condo with the Mayor of Moscows wife to get the $3.5 million.
Biden also didn't write off 6 figure payoffs to porn stars as a business expense/lawyer fee... then that lawyer went to jail for spending that trump money to pay off porn stars on trump's behalf.

MOAR trump tax fraud.

Perhaps, it is just me, but the thread title, "
Long-concealed Records Show Trump's Chronic Losses and Years of Tax Avoidance

Implies a lack of understand of an income tax.
If a person or a business has a loss for the year, there is no income, so therefore no income to tax!
In the property Business, it is entirely possible to have a negative income during a given year, and all perfectly legal.
Say a large Hotel, built in the 1970's has to shutdown for 6 months for asbestos removal.
If the property normally makes $100 million a year, but in that year only made $50 million, and the
asbestos removal cost $60 million, the property would loose $10 million on the year.
Income taxes are based on NET profits, not GROSS profits.

I think everyone here understands the concept of profits and losses. My beef is with a tax code, created by people like Trump, to benefit people like Trump. The super wealthy are able to be fiscally reckless and it only helps them on tax day.

I guess it's a rather quaint, outdated notion that Americans should contribute to the greater good, especially those most equipped to contribute. To see a man like DJT, who shits in gold toilets and trades in his mail order bride every few years for something newer, to claim he is unable to afford to contribute even as much as mechanics and retail clerks is outrageous.

And, what's worse is the "so what" attitude of republican working stiffs who treat him like a fair player because, SOMEHOW, such shameless exploitation of our nation has been cemented in law. As conservatives convulse with indignation about couch potatoes who dare to accept and sustain themselves with unearned chump change, in the form of food and housing assistance, they shrug off these most glaring examples of exploitation by the filthy rich.

How low our country has fallen when a third of the population no longer maintains ANY patriotic expectation from those MOST served by our system and actually runs political interference for them. A sort of religion of which a loathing for common people and for the government itself has come to replace the rational duty of citizenship. It must be a religion for the president himself, who has ignored the emoluments clauses, who drips wealth, to be immune from the same civic responsibility as those who clean the bathrooms in his golf courses.

There's a vast difference between earning wealth through work and extracting it through exploitation. There's a difference to me, I mean. Clearly, the conservatives are loathe to treat rich crooks any different than actual entrepreneurs.

Agreed. Now convince the congress to change the law.

Trump has 5 kids by 3 different women, lives in government housing, and hasn't paid taxes in years.

He is the caricature some right wingers paint of black guys, in a rotally non-racist way.

I have not looked at the story, but does it say what Trump paid in Taxes for all the years looked at?
I wonder what his averaged tax was, if averaged over a decade or more.

I don't know who "you guys" are, but this election has nothing to do with either sons. It ONLY has to do with the current president and his challenger. The jackass may try to bring Hunter Biden into the discussion tonight, but that would be a mistake. No one wants to hear about Hunter Biden-or Jackass Jr. This election will be a referendum on the failed coronavirus response and the resulting over 200,000 deaths and the economic and personal disruption it has unnecessarily caused this country. It will be an election about the attempts by the current administration to eliminate pre-existing conditions from people's healthcare and the hypocrisy of shoving a SC nominee down the throats of the American people before they have a chance to express their opinions by voting.
This jackass president is going down; so is his brown nosing senate. Only after the new administration takes office can this country begin to heal.

I haven't read the story either but heard that one year Trump only paid $750 in taxes.

NY Times: Trump paid $750 in US income taxes in 2016, 2017
President Donald Trump paid just $750 in federal income taxes the year he ran for president and in his first year in the White House, according to a report Sunday in The New York Times.

Taxes are a good thing! If more people paid taxes without trying to loophole out of doing so and the taxes paid weren't miss used, this would be a better place to live?

This is sarcasm, right?

I was born in New Jersey. It took a bit to get my green card.

Got it. Russian interference in our elections is no longer an issue that concerns Democrats. Thanks for the update.

So you have the data on what Trump paid for all the years in the article?
Sure he might have paid $750 for two years, but if he paid $100 million in other years, it would average out.

I agree, but Trump is president and should set the example, and then stress the opinion to congress and the people.

It's like a parent if you are doing something wrong then you can't tell your child not to do it?

I was born in New Jersey. It took a bit to get my green card.
It's high time we build a wall around that shithole state and make Mexico pay for it.

Russian interference is an issue that should concern EVERYONE, wouldn't you agree? In fact, ANY interference in a fair election process should concern everyone. Its not a partisan issue. THE issues of this election will be: the Covid pandemic, the (tanking) economy, loss of healthcare options for many Americans, and the track record of our current president. Those are the main issues for most people.
You're welcome for the update.

Oh yeah, sure, he paid $50 million the next year.

Come on man.

He also paid ZERO federal income tax for ten of the past 15 or so years. How does he get away with that? I am going to wait for the result of the pending investigation to issue a final judgement, but its certainly pretty suspicious. You know, if it looks like a turd and smells like a turd its probably best not to step in it.

I would have thought so. But you just told me that "No one wants to hear about Hunter Biden." If it was found out that Don Jr. took $3,500,000 from a Russian oligarch, you don't think it might be a topic of discussion?

Oh yeah, sure, he paid $50 million the next year.

So you are speculating, without any evidence!
Consider the headline,
New York Times: Trump paid no income taxes in 10 out of 15 years beginning in 2000
If Trump paid not income taxes in 10 of the 15 years since 2000, then he paid income taxes in 5 of those years.
The Author of the article cherry picked 2 years at $750 only, but what about the other 3 years?
