Without lockdowns or social distancing. With lockdowns and social distancing, COVID-19 deaths will be more than double that number by February when it will be one year old in the U.S. So COVID-19 is far more than twice as deadly as the worst flu season in more than 60 years.
I agree that early on the lockdowns were important! Had we overwhelmed our medical facilities, it would have been a real disaster.
Our knowledge, of treatments for Covid-19 has not remained static, and fewer and fewer cases need hospitalization.
The ratio of cases to deaths, dropped as we learned more. In New York, the ratio was 6.99%, While the later peak in Texas was only 2.05%.
I think we are past the point where the total lockdown is helpful.
We still need to be very cautious wit our Seniors, but the risks for those below age 55 is minimal.

For mortality rates, correct. But with time it seems there are lingering side effects of the virus for an appreciable number of people. So looking strictly at mortality rates is not a good idea.

Here is his statement again,
"Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. "
I still do not see your added ten year qualifier.
Besides I think the 1957 flu had 116,000 deaths.
It doesn’t need the qualifier, because there are not “many” years over 100,000. There are “few.”

Why is Trump making flu analogies when he’s on tape telling Woodward he knows it’s 5x deadlier?
He is not saying it is the same as the flu, he is saying that we adapt to the risk!
We can take precautions against spreading Covid, just like we should have been taking
precautions against spreading the flu.
(On a side note, if people are following the Covid precautions, we should have a minimal flu season.)

THAT Trump tweet. RIGHT THERE. It's the perfect example of why the Trump family will go down for bank and tax fraud. They lie about everything and they are HUGE lies.
What was the lie? He said that we should adapt to risk, according to the actual risks.

The are learning to live with it, and they are miserable.
My Dad's quality of life is greatly restricted, At 94, he is very cautious, and rightfully so.
He is missing the normal social interaction with friends and family.
Let him go out there and socialize. He'll likely catch Covid and die very quickly. Is that what you want for your dad?

No need to deflect to COVID... You challenged the assertion that in the last 10 years we have NEVER had year with 100,000 flu deaths... You deflected to some period of time longer than the last 10 years.. Prove it.. In the meantime, his statement that the number of flu deaths is "sometimes over 100,000" is an outright lie...
You were the one who added the 10 year qualifier, I was simply questioning why it was necessary,
when Trump's statement, included no such time qualification?

52 years ago is sometimes? I guess we can also say that sometimes we have a civil war... Sometimes we make slavery legal... LMAO....

Perhaps overall, but Trump's tweet was about Covid-19 being lethal.

Well? So 1968 was the last year we had 100,000 deaths? 52 years ago is sometimes?
Again qualifying... US only? The Flu/Covid is nationalistic?

In the words of Biden - "Come on, mayen!"

Learning to live with it, is taking precautions, and not socializing, it is just not a good way to live!

Oh give it up... He wasn't talking about worldwide flu deaths which exceed 100,000 EVERY year... good lord... It was LIE just admit it...

In the last 10 years, NO YEAR has ever had 100,000 flu deaths...

I think he has gone much to far.... this should absolutely clinched a landslide for Biden.
It is still perplexing why the the 25th is not used.

Thats just it. You read that tweat and believe 100% that he was fabricating and being decieptful.

I read that tweat and see that he was adding emphasis to get a point across.

Your initial criticism was that Trump said flu death were sometimes over 100,000 per year.
He did not state a qualifying time period, it was you who choose to add one to make a point unsuccessfully,
as I pointed out you slight of hand!

Learning to live with it, is taking precautions, and not socializing, it is just not a good way to live!

Really?????????? When did he say use a mask and distance? Avoid crowds and bars?

We do HAVE TO live with it... we need to keep as reasonably safe as possible and he has given us a template on how not to remain safe.

I read it as a LIE because it is a LIE... It's trivial to verify...

OMFG

If you listen to Trump, you won't be following Covid precautions. The WH has not yet implemented a mask mandate and has turned down the CDCs offer to contact trace. They simply don't care. They are morons in the higest degree.

And sometimes dinosaurs walk around... just not lately... LMAO...

Trump has been paying too much attention to Joe when giving out numbers. Is senility contagious?

Who cares what Trump says about precautions? Since he himself contracted Covid, is his the best advice?
