Live Thread for Super Tuesday Democratic Primaries News and Results

Biden so far winning Massachusetts, that's weird.

Not.

I voted for Warren for US Senate but not for Potus.

As senator Warren is very together, highly organized and disciplined. Running for potus Warren is all over the place and has reverted to her whiny tones. Warren will make an excellent secretary of Treasury.

Let's see... Right now Bernie is up by 6.6% in Texas... yeah... it's going my way son.

Then why are you telling people to STFU?

One thing that is a truism in politics, recovering a voter is always easier than acquiring one you never had. Maybe what the night's results so far are telling us is that Biden's early advantage in the polls was real with many of those voters that left Joe's house for a bit represented low hanging fruit once Joe started to look like an actual candidate and the field of moderates thinned.

One of the reasons for Nate Silver's model that predicted Biden as the ultimate winner of Super Tuesday, is that Bloomberg is doing better than he expected, so, Bloomberg is siphoning out a lot of potential Biden votes. Advantage Bernie, on this regard. Bernie may very well get the stronger plurality of delegates from Super Tuesday.

Looks like Biden is coming on strong, Bernie is again the underdog, and everyone else is toast.

Warren might not even win Mass, which is sad, because she’s clearly the best of the bunch.

But I’m OK with Biden, and could live with Sanders, since 90% of his ideas would never pass Congress anyway.

The worst part about this is that given this field, Trump is now the youngest (male) candidate still standing (by almost a half decade!). I did not want to see that.
Kamala Harris. Biden needs Kamala Harris. But he'll probably take Klobuchar.

Regardless, if Biden gets the presidency, we can say - "Justice Obama!"

I entirely agree with you. Warren sometimes is too smart for her own good, and then she tends to get scattered, calculating too much, all over the place like you said, and then she falls flat and looks fake.

But I wouldn't expect Biden to win there. I thought if Warren faltered, Sanders would win there.

Texas is worth watching IMO. I think Bernie will do very well in Cal. I think Biden might just barely make the threshold there. If Bernie can pull off a big win in Texas that would set him up going to the Cal tally. If he can't hold Biden off in Texas that is sort of a different kind of a story on the night I think.

I don't know where Bloomy comes in. So far he has netted American Samoa.

IMO Warren has been running a game at the public for weeks now. Funny how the Electorate is able to sniff this stuff out, almost like a jury at trial.
While Biden is doing impressively well in the Middle Atlantic & perhaps Middle-South, it's all about 15% in Cali for him. That will make-it or break-it for him. No matter what happens, he's got to get 15%.

If Mitch keeps his senate majority he will never confirm Obama.

Why not VP running mate for Sanders?

I also think so. Many of the States to report, east coast as you get farther west and south and Dems conservative

I would put Texas in that block
It's not your father's Texas, anymore! :2razz:

Bloomberg wins American Samoa!!

That’s what $600MM buys these days.

Thank god.

Biden appears to be getting out the vote more than Bernie is getting out the vote at least to this point. Who the heck would have thunk that!

Warren does not have a bubbly likable personality. Her strength was claiming to be super intelligent, a Harvard professor etc. She should have stuck with that. Instead, she tries to be a warm, chatty person - and it comes across as fake because it is fake - like her disastrous "I want a beer. You want a beer, honey?" I bet Warren is a wine drinker, not a beer drinker. Trying to be likable, rather than the smartest one on the stage was a terrible blunder - and that's what comes from listening to consultants and focus groups. She can't be what she isn't.

Bloomberg's strength is he generally just acts like himself - so seems normal and not just some politician reciting rehearsed talking points.

This is Warren's calculation. To be the alternative to Sanders if the money people and MSM takes Sanders out. She figures all his voters will come to her. While the logic makes sense, the numbers don't - unless Sanders is taken out very quickly. Potentially, if she got enough delegates she could be the brokered convention pick. That is her only hope.

No, actually I wouldn't, because PA is a huge diverse state, while Bernie has dominated the Vermont politics forever and ever. That he might falter there, is not a good sign.

And see, Biden is leading in Maine and Massachusetts as of now, so his surge is not just in the South.

So you're a hack. Okay. Just wanted to clear that up.

What will save Bernie in Texas and California is the Latino vote. If you read Bernie's immigration platform, it's everything the Latinos have ever hoped for. And given that these are the two big states, this alone may save the night for Bernie AND save his campaign. He will only win the nomination if he wins big in Texas and California, and Texas is starting to pay off for him; California should be even more for Bernie, with Bloomberg playing the spoiler for Biden and not allowing Biden to fully benefit of his own surge.

Biden with a big early lead in Minnesota, but it's too early, can't say much about it, yet.

We cannot discount what happened just within the last 72 hours, and how that changed where support went.

His rise is as compelling as Clinton's 92' comeback, frankly.

It's incredible whether you like the guy or not.

Could be, the only issue is if Bloomberg ends up causing more damage than we originally thought.
With the Dem focus on Trump and electability, the earlier moderate turnout (2016 levels) up 'till now might not be an issue. Dems, besides Bernie Bros & Babes, may not have a hard support for a particular nominee, but that doesn't mean they will not strongly support the eventual nominee. I'm trying not to justify or rationalize, but I think it's a reasonable rationalization. At least I hope it is!

So you're a hack. Okay. Just wanted to clear that up.

A hack for whom??? Are you a bit confused, buddy? Let me repeat it slowly for you:

I. Voted. For. Bernie.

I. Am. Rooting. For. Bernie.

So, if I say something that benefits Biden (just because I'm coldly analyzing the race), it means I'm a hack for... Biden... while I voted for Bernie?!?!?!?!?

Look, you are making no sense.

Keep track of the percent reported though.

Also... In every state other than alamba at this point... Bernie is above 15% and will get delegates.

I think we're making advance judgments that may not hold, due to the effect of early voting. It tends to be counted first. Older people tend to vote early, younger people tend to vote on election day. So, maybe Bernie's numbers will still go up in some of these too early to call states.
