Ok, lets put things in perspective. This mess was started by an immature little man who could not accept the fact that he lost. He started spreading that crap months before the election, saying if he lost, it would be due to the election being rigged. As recently as a few days ago he insisted that he won the election in a landslide, but it was stolen from him. Somehow he managed to convince millions of his voters of that lie. He was totally unprepared for the job the day he was elected and never made a serious attempt to grow into it. The truly scary part is were it not for his inept handling of the pandemic he might have won re-election. Good riddance. No way!
Putting things in perspective would ruin the narrative.
You know what it is: Trump bad. Biden good. Nancy beautiful. Paradise awaits us in exactly one more week! Yea!
The raid on the Capitol was the result of 4 years of being told to sit down and shut up every time there was a question about the validity of ANY accusation against Trump. The election was just the last straw.
How many showed up with flexi cuffs and how many people are needed to organize that acquisition?
Some gut showed up with a few guns and molitov cocktails in his truck. That's a one man "conspiracy". The gallows was purely a political statement.
So how many here have attended college, or even high school? Did you ever go to parties? Did you ever go to one of those parties where everything was going along really well? The music was blaring, people were feeling good. There were guys meeting girls and girls meeting guys and everyone was loose and having a great time.
Then a few more people showed up.
This group was a little bit more boisterous and next thing you know there's people doing shots. Then there's some guy being hung upside down over the keg and some chick has her boobs out. That's all good too but you just kind of know....there it goes! A couple of guys just got in a fight and now there's a broken window and the cops are on their way.
That's kind of the dynamic we saw in DC last week. You had a few people that took things a lot farther than need be and a lot that just kind of got caught up in the moment. It wasn't any kind of "planned attack" (outside of maybe a few that really did want to do some damage) and wasn't intended to do anything other than make a political statement. It was over in a few hours and there wasn't any "occupation" or any resurgence of the attacks the next day. There wasn't even a resurgence that night! The "riot" never took to the streets and it damned sure didn't break out across the nation.
The media, left, right and middle, would have you believe that this was the equivalent of the storming of the Bastille but it wasn't. It wasn't even close. It was a good time that got out of hand and that's all it was.
So here's the difference - the Capitol riot got out of hand, stopped and wasn't repeated. The BLM riots this summer started, grew, metastasized and spread across the nation. While the George Floyd stuff in Minneapolis may have "just got a little out of hand" it had all kinds of precedent in other such "demonstrations" going back 50 years and then it continued for MONTHS. The "events" were planned, supplied and generally supported by media and elected officials alike.

Mostly correct. There were a few that were their in a planned and coordinated manner intend on doing something more. I don't know what it was, because they failed, but it was something. The guy with the zip-ties comes to mind, where that's obviously something you use to take prisoners.
Oh come on it was just a coup where they were probably going to execute AOC or Ilhan Omar live on the internet, everyone did it in college.
Well, that derives directly from the clever trick of convincing consumers of conasefvarovd media that any information that doesn't come from them that questions anything that does is fake news. The raid on the Capitol was the result of 4 years of being told to sit down and shut up every time there was a question about the validity of ANY accusation against Trump. Just a few good ol boys and gals using the threat of violence to stop the certification of an national election at the Capital. Could happen to anyone.

Is this your very best attempt to rationalize treason, sedition, and the attempted murder of elected representatives? So how many here have attended college, or even high school? The Beer Hall Putsch...good history there. Would you like to explain the differences between that and what happened at the Capitol or should I?Lutherf:
Ja, ja! I remember one great party down in the burgerbraukeller in 1923, where a bunch of boisterous veterans arrived and then things got out of hand and there were shots fired and the police were called. Many of the trouble-makers fled before the police arrived or secured the scene, some wounded, but finally the evening settled down and nothing serious ever came out of the boisterousness. Ja, those were good times! Pity things went to shit a decade later.
Cheers, have a nice Bavarian spring-bock and be well.

"Attempted murder of elected representatives"? Did you overdose on Kool-Aid?Is this your very best attempt to rationalize treason, sedition, and the attempted murder of elected representatives?
Treason and sedition is a good time to you?
Legal? Sort of. I think he crossed a line and was effectively yelling fire in a crowded theater.Whether his accusations are provable or not is kind of a moot point by now but it's perfectly legal for him to complain about that kind of stuff, true or not.
Completely unrelated, a common fallacy used to deflect. Also, you are flat out wrong. Trump should have been impeached for his actions with Russia as teh Muller report showed.I might remind you that the media as a whole went ape shit over Russiagate for three years and that was proved completely false too yet nobody (other than Trump) has chosen to hold them accountable for all that crap.
People keep banding about the term sedition. Here's the definition of sedition from The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition. A factious commotion in a state; the stirring up of such a commotion; incitement of discontent against government and disturbance of public tranquillity, as by inflammatory speeches or writings, or acts or language tending to breach of public order: as, to stir up a sedition; a speech or pamphlet, abounding in sedition. Is this your very best attempt to rationalize treason, sedition, and the attempted murder of elected representatives?

Can we be at least intellectually honest enough to apply this definition to the violent protests of last summer, since we're vehemently applying it to the Capitol riot?? Thanks!!

That wasn't my question, though. I'm asking you of you would apply that definition to the riots of last summer?? Thanks!!This is a perfect description of what Trump did on Twitter before he was banned, as well as what he does at his MAGAite Nuremberg rallies.
They never attempted to overthrow the government by force by kidnapping or killing representatives. By French standards, those protests were quite peaceful. Sedition and reason had no place in those BLM protests. That wasn't my question, though. I'm asking you of you would apply that definition to the riots of last summer?? Thanks!!
For the sake of argument, let's say you're right, that "most of the violence" was done by right wing. So you acknowledge that there was some left wing violence. So are those left wing individuals guilty of sedition?? Thanks!!They never attempted to overthrow the government by force by kidnapping or killing representatives. Most of the violence committed at those rallies was done by right-wing provocateurs, seeking to blame BLM and the Antifa for their own actions in their goal of fomenting civil war.

For the BLM protests to be sedation then you need to prove that the protesters were seeking to use violence to overthrow the government by force and violence and ignore the will of the people who voted. For the sake of argument, let's say you're right, that "most of the violence" was done by right wing. So you acknowledge that there was some left wing violence. So are those left wing individuals guilty of sedition?? Thanks!!
