if we deported 100% of the illegals that's right, there would be no illegally here people committing any crimes at all, no rapes, no murders, no drug/human trafficking, no child abuse/kid porn, it wouldn't be costing cities/states/GOVT hundreds of millions of dollars to try and deal with them all ....

all the problems coming from illegals disappear when there are no illegals here

Another aspect of this deployment that hasn't been discussed is that of military readiness. I mentioned earlier that it takes a good deal of conditioning to get ordinary people to be able to kill other human beings in battle. It is not a natural instinct. That conditioning is threatened when they are instead embedded into the civilian population with a contrary mission.

Soldier is a mindset. It's not becoming a "killing machine", they're still quite human. And the battlefields they engage on are diverse and complicated. Effective armies are finely tuned machines. The laws of war and rules of engagement are intended to keep discipline and prevent the mechanisms of warfare from spinning out of control and crushing the population. It's about restraint. The effects of such lack of restraint are apparent in Russia's behavior in Ukraine and Israel's in Gaza. The participants in those atrocities are severely damaged, socially and mentally, as are the fighting forces themselves.

Using soldiers in policing also damages them. Soldiery and policing are very, very different functions in society - hence the Posse Comitatas Act, a reaction to the use of the military in civil law enforcement after the Civil War - although both involve the potential use of violence and require a highly trained cadre with the appropriate discipline and mindset. It's difficult enough to keep police forces in check (see a long discussion of militarizing the police), but placing Soldiers, disciplined for battle, in such an environment creates an internal conflict.

Ordinary people cannot and should not be reduced to "threats" and "targets", and the reverse is also true. Battle is frequently a matter of timing and discernment - literally split second decisions. Introducing hesitation into that mindset can be fatal on the battlefield. It's corrosive to a fighting force.
