How come Republicans are for small government and don't want their government, Federal or Local to tell them what to do EXCEPT when it comes to telling a woman what she can or cannot do with her body? This is about liberty and the freedom to choose what one does and having states preventing a woman from choosing what to do with her body is totally anti-constitutional.

When I was a kid my aunt was pregnant at the same time Roe was coming to light. On one side I saw red faced angry women were on television demanding the right to abort. On the other side I saw a baby growing inside her mother. How do you explain to a child the difference in the babies growing inside their mothers that allow for one to be eradicated? Like it or not, (most) children DO know where babies come from and that they were once inside their own mother.
It effectively already is. TX has effectively stopped abortions. In other states, there are a few scattered around the state making it difficult for poor women to get services. Rich women can just fly to blue states that have adequate abortion providers.
Abortion is a valid medical procedure that is sometimes necessary. Decisions on life and death are made every day in medicine. That's were abortion should fall - when it is a choice in life and death. There are many mothers who were advised not to carry their baby to term, yet chose to anyway. Many women who forwent chemotherapy in order to carry their baby to term. That's the place freedom of "choice" should be but abortion has been usurped by pop culture.

My wife and I demonstrated for abortion rights when she was pregnant with our first child. There is no contradiction. Having the right to an abortion doesn't mean one needs to use it.

I had no idea that Penny was getting an abortion and that it was illegal until I got older. I kept wondering how she had lied to her dad for years because without the knowledge that she was giving her money for an abortion and that this was illegal, I just didn't know.
