Pointless thread.
Do you vote in elections to determine leadership of this country?
Congrats. You live in a democracy. A representative democracy.
It's actually a Republic.
Democracy and republic are not mutually exclusive terms.
Democracy and republic are not mutually exclusive terms.
Actually, they are.
Nope. Wrong again (predictably). You might get something right one day, but I'll temper my optimism until that happens...and look at Number One:Your country is the worst place on the planet right now as far as Covid goes so forgive me if I dont take you seriously.
LOL Of course we have more actual fatalities than you because we are 5 times the size of the UK. Right now the UK is just shy of 100,000 deaths. Do the math yourselfNope. Wrong again (predictably). Got anything to add?-and forgive me if I don't take you seriously.Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and deaths most impacted countries worldwide 2022 | Statista
As of October 6, 2022, the United States had recorded around 96.6 million cases of COVID-19.www.statista.com
You clearly don't want to understand what 'per capita' means. Oh, and you're wrong, again. Our cases are dropping.LOL Of course we have more actual fatalities than you because we are 5 times the size of the UK. Right now the UK is just shy of 100,000 deaths. Do the math yourself
Never mind, Ill do it for you. Thats almost half a million adjusted for population. The UK is behind only Belgium and you are gaining on them rapidly.
You have 100,000 dead and a population of 68,000,000. Thats worse than anywhere in the world other than Belgium. You clearly don't want to understand what 'per capita' means. Oh, and you're wrong, again. Our cases are dropping.
Covid rates dropping across England - but study warns lockdown has NO IMPACT
MORE data has suggested Covid cases have fallen in recent weeks – since England was plunged into a third national lockdown. The stats from Public Health England show cases fell in all but fiv…www.thesun.co.uk
Nope. The US is number one in the world by any metric you care to employ. Try again. Oh, and there's this:You have 100,000 dead and a population of 68,000,000. Thats worse than anywhere in the world other than Belgium.
Now you are just lying. The death rate per 100,000 in the UK is 147. Its 126 in the US. You guys are averaging 1239 deaths per day. Tell me, what is your secret to such successNope. The US is number one in the world by any metric you care to employ. Try again. Oh, and there's this:

Our cases are dropping, yours are increasing. Want to see some more data-or will you just ignore the links I provide as you have done? Now you are just lying. Your cases are dropping They only had one direction to go. But at least you finally admit that your country is faring worse than the US when it comes to handling the virus. Our cases are dropping, yours are increasing. I have admitted no such thing, so quit lying.Your cases are dropping They only had one direction to go. But at least you finally admit that your country is faring worse than the US when it comes to handling the virus.
Oh, then you cant be persuaded by facts. No wonder your country is doing so poorly. To be accurate though, the UK is 3rd worst on the planet, not second worst. Gibraltar has you beat at the moment as well. But dont give up, you can catch them!!I have admitted no such thing, so quit lying.
Pointless thread.
No, they are not. Do you not know what those words mean?
Democracy is the DIRECT vote of the governed to run things. In a democracy, Government actions, no matter how small, are approved by the vote os the people. This is a virtually impossible system to maintain.
A Representative Democracy employs the vote of the folks to be governed to elect a relatively small folks that will run things.
A republic is very much like an oligarchy or an autocracy with the only qualifier being that the members of the ruling classes are elected by the population.
Your own definitions are so nonsensical I'm having a hard time unraveling this web you think is logic.
Which is why we are not a direct democracy, and I have never claimed we are.
Which is what we are; so we are a democracy.
No, it isn't. If you knew what you were talking about you would know this.
Republic comes from Latin, res publica. It means the affairs of government are a public matter, not the private affairs of oligarchs, autocrats, and tyrants. Our nation is governed by a republic because our political affairs are open to the public, and we influence them by taking part in elections where we vote people into office to represent us.
Therefore, we are a representative democratic republic.
He will probably work the COVID situation like Obama worked the economy he was left with. He will take a bad situation and fix it (and then the next administration will probably try to take credit)
Your view on this delightfully naive and fanciful. You think that our government is open to the public. That is cute. It's wrong, but it's cute.
That said, though, we do elect representatives who then do whatever the hell they want and lie to us about what they have done stealing everything that not nailed down lying to us about that as well.
We perform the process of electing these representatives within states. OUR STATES are then represented in Washington DC. Even in presidential elections, OUR STATES are represented. NOT the individuals.
The way things actually work in the real world is this: Since the year 2000 until the end of 2019, Median household income increased by about 11%. Almost all of that increase occurred between 2016 and 2019.
In that same period, Federal Government Spending increased by 238%. Doesn't take a math major to understand that the Fed's spending increased by 227% more than the Average American's Spending.
If you CAN explain why and how that ADDITIONAL 227% increase was needed and why and how every additional dollar was spent, then our government is both open and honest. If you can't, it's not.
You can't. It's not.

I acknowledged that Germany did a far better job early on than we did. They did a far better job than their European neighbors as well. Unfortunately they are being swamped by the second wave. So whatever competence or good fortune they may have had, is gone now. So even the most competent nation on Earth has lost over 42,000 lives and is losing about 900 more per day.
As for the rest of the major players in Europe, if that great socialist paradise of France were our size they would have 350,000 deaths right now; the UK would have over 400,000; Italy, 440,000; Spain 370,000; Belgium, over 550,000. But dont let facts interfere with your Trump hate. Its all his fault.
Great. Sweden, 340,000; Switzerland, 306,000; Romania, 299,000. What you are doing is equivalent to arguing that Alaska is handling Covid better than New York, therefore Alaska has far better leadership. Thats silly. The two states arent comparable. The point, having flown over your head, isnt that there arent certain certain countries that have done better than us, but that the continent as a whole is in roughly the same boat we are in. That is undeniable, yet you deny it because it goes against the grain of your Trump hatred.
Further, Germany, for example, didnt hit 10,000 deaths until October 22. They will likely hit 50,000 later this week. 10,000 deaths in the first 7 months of the pandemic, which is amazing actually, 40,000 deaths in the last 3 months. Did the competent leadership suddenly become incompetent? Was it Trumps fault? Or did Germany just succumb to the reality that this is a pandemic that is going to run its course whether we like it or not.
