It turns out that Russia DID NOT attack Ukraine

Saddam was interrogated by the CIA following his capture. He was asked why he played that dangerous game of cat and mouse regarding WMD, which resulted in his ouster and the U.S. invasion. His reply was very telling.

First, he said he said he did not have any WMD, but it was important that Iran believed he did. It was the only thing keeping Iran at bay and not attacking Iraq. Second, he did not believe that Bush was really going to invade, considering that he could not get the rest of the world to support such an invasion.

Shortly after that interrogation, Saddam was tried and executed by his countrymen.

Funny thing is that Iraq had a much more modern and sophisticated military than Iran had. Iran simply threw soldiers at them and fought them to a standstill trading blood to do it. Lesson we apparently have still not learned. Don't mess with Iranians. They are a real peoples with a real history and a real tradition and their memory is longer than the memory of an elephant.
