Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia did not attack Ukraine, Interfax reported on Thursday.


"We do not plan to attack other countries, we did not attack Ukraine either," Lavrov said at a press conference when asked if Russia was going to attack other countries. According to Interfax, the foreign minister said that the situation arose because no one listened to Russia's demands.

Based on this reporting it seems that Russia's actions were purely DEFENSIVE and due solely to the pending attack by Ukraine on Russian territory...which had been Ukrainian territory before Russia took it over in 2014.

Oh! Almost forgot. Also "US/Ukrainian alliance producing bioweapons"

According to the Gulf War Ceasefire (UNSCR 687, I believe), the burden of proof was on him. After a dozen years he still wasn't in compliance... so the invasion was completely justified. The Gulf War never really ended until after he was deposed.

I was not in favor of invading Iraq but that doesn't change the fact that it is not analogous to Putin invading Ukraine.

The warped logic of Russians by way of Putin believe that Ukraine is intrinsically entwined with Russia. That what happens in Ukraine is like it happens in Russia. I guess this is because so many that live in Ukraine are Russian or married to a Russian or have a Russian parent or grandparent. They speak Russian.

So when Ukrainians revolted in 2014 and overthrew the sitting President who was pro Russia, it was viewed by Russians as illegal and an offense to the Russians living there. From that date on there has been a civil war in some regions. Putin sees himself as saving Russians from the illegal government in Ukraine who is oppressing them. Forcing them to speak Ukrainian instead of their native Russian language. That the civil war in the Donbas as Nazis killing the Russians there.

Putin seems to really believe this shit, that he is defending Russians. This I guess is why calling it a war is considered by him not correct.
