I’m calling it, The pandemic is over if you are vaccinated. All indicators are looking good. I was concerned about BA2 but it doesn’t appear to be more severe. I think we’ll see a bump in cases in the winter but nothin worse than the regular flu. I imagine this will be the last Coronavirus thread. It’s been been a long strange ride. Great work everybody. Congratulations!!! We can now all focus on the war.

Well, we can all agree that the COVID-19 crisis is entering a new phase and it's doing so VEERRRRRRRYYY SLOWWWWLY here in the USA...but slow or not, it is happening.
At this current time,
almost TWO THIRDS of Americans have had at least ONE DOSE of one of the COVID-19 vaccines, according to Forbes Magazine.
That means that likely 90 percent of that 2/3's will eventually receive their second shot in the coming weeks, and most likely half of that percentage will even receive a booster shot at some point
in the future.
And as we know, vaccinated people CAN STILL SPREAD the virus HOWEVER their contagion level is minimal compared to unvaccinated persons, and their contagion period is drastically shorter.
And if you ARE vaccinated, and you GET COVID-19 in a breakthrough infection, in over 90% of those cases, you experience mild to moderate symptoms.
And many people who DO experience those symptoms ask their doctor or seek a test, and if the test is positive, the majority isolate.
So the point is, the vaccinations ARE WORKING, and a growing majority ARE GETTING them, and it IS having an effect on the virus' ability to replicate and spread.
And our immunity level is increasing, so that is limiting the ability for spread mainly to the remaining unvaccinated among us.
Simply put, the very worst of the pandemic really IS now "a pandemic of the unvaccinated" and while we can argue the tragedy of it all well into eternity, we're now approaching
the point where we might just have a chance to stiffen our fortifications and begin to tamp down the damage of this crisis to a dull roar.
I mean, if our society's response had looked
a lot more like our response back in the 1950's to POLIO we would have been in a much better position months ago...but all that is now
water under the bridge, isn't it?
At this point, we still do need to do everything we can to help do just that, if for no other reason than protecting the ability of our healthcare system to deal with it better.
We need to protect our healthcare system for a good many reasons most of which are a given, there's no need to spell it all out, good people already understand the importance of it.
Let me pose a question, and I want to say ahead of time that this question isn't meant to sound hysterical or hyperbolic...I am just tossing it out there in the name of spitballing:
What if one of our major cities were to be attacked, God forbid, by the Russians?
Or...what if "The Big One" (earthquake) strikes Los Angeles with a 9.2 on the Richter Scale, or the Pacific Northwest with even an 8.2?
You can take almost ANY monster disaster and superimpose it, the point is, what if, just as we emerge from the darkness of the plague, we get hit by another big bad disaster
right on the heels of respite?
Will we have the available healthcare resources to deal with it?
What I'm getting at is, the sooner we DO FINISH THE VIRUS OFF with vaccination, the better equipped we will be to handle something else that's coming, and
believe me, at some point, "something else" is coming, something else is always coming.
So, if we really are slowly earning some relief, maybe let's try to urge the remaining unvaccinated among us to finally take the step and get some immunity.
