Is the U.S. ready for Socialism?

1) Even Bush expanded Medicare and created the DHS.

2) National Socialists are big into socialism, but only for specific majorities. The rest can pound sand.

1) What do you mean "even Bush"? The US has gone way beyond sensible government in the size and types of social programs it has introduced since FDR and accelerated since Johnson. We have made a huge mistake there, but do not like to call it by the "s" word.
2) Actually the social system was for all after the Volk had been tidied up. Sand powder would not have been pounded. It would have been made.

Suit yourself.

Welfare, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid aren't socialist programs? Of course they are.

They are social programs, not socialism. Socialism is when the government owns the means of production.

Uh......no. The Soviets were not capitalists.

By one definition of the word "capitalist", they were. Capitalism is managing resources (capital) to become more efficient. So mass production is capitalism, while someone making items one at a time for personal use isn't.

That's why when I used the world capitalism, I specify "free market capitalism' to indicate that I'm not talking about what the USSR did.

Yeah, but free market capitalism and state controlled mass production are two very different animals.

It turns out the Chinese 'Communists' are pretty good at capitalism.

Yes, yes, I know. That's the dictionary definition of the word, but it really applies to no one. No one advocates that yet lots of people refer to themselves as socialist.

China has thrown in the towel on communism but is still very heavily authoritarian. Probably closer to fascism than anything else at this point.

I believe the term is State Capitalism. The US did that during WW2, had a centrally planned economy, and it worked pretty well.

It looks like I'm not the worst when it comes to naïveté:

Under the traditional method of gauging poverty, adopted a half-century ago, California’s rate is 16 percent (6.1 million residents), somewhat above the national rate of 14.9 percent but by no means the highest. That dubious honor goes to New Mexico at 21.5 percent.
.

The traditional rate ignores cost of living. Why would you want to ignore something as relevant as the cost of living when it comes to determining poverty rates ?

It looks like the homeless gravitate to California. Frankly, I'm not surprised. It seems the homeless are smarter than the average Texan..

Lol...California is producing poverty, not educated Americans homeless or otherwise

Yet California has a rather large rainy-day fund:

By 2017, California could have $7.2 billion socked away in rainy-day fund

" State governments have a surefire strategy for hoodwinking the public and the news media, and nowhere does it work more perfectly than in California. Journalists can't stop lauding Governor Jerry Brown for turning a fiscal crisis into a "surplus," even though that surplus was achieved by ignoring more than $6 billion in costs."

It seems Texas lags in creating its own companies. While I'm not a fan of Texas, I don't begrudge creating companies for Texas. Someone has to do it, and we'll make more. Hell, if there weren't jobs in Texas, Texans might want to move to California, and no one wants that to happen.

IT SEEMS Texas has a REAL Rainy Day fund, not a imagined Surplus like Jerry Brown's....

As long as you stay in Texas, everyone will be happy. We'll even send you companies to keep you there.

In any case, earthquakes are terrifying. No need for you to risk crapping your pants.

I don't think your post ranks as a reply to the facts presented. Perhaps you should try again, or admit your post about Browns "rainy day fund" was just satire.

LOL.

What makes you think I tried to?

Your post was soundly refuted with facts, and you bailed on it. Clearly, with your understanding of facts, it would appear those running California already can claim the are successfully bossing you around, so perhaps you should take up the issue with them.

Prove its false.....if you're capable. Personally, I dont think you're capable of posting anything intelligent at all
