Our latest national poll would seem to say yes- 35% voters in the country either think that Barack Obama was not born in the United States or that George W. Bush intentionally allowed the 9/11 attacks to occur so that we could go to war in the Middle East. A very troubled 2% of the population buys into both of those conspiracy theories.
Public Policy Polling: Is extremism becoming mainstream?
A new survey by Public Policy Polling finds that 1/3 of Americans hold extreme views:
More than 1/3 of Americans believe something completely outside the limits of rational thought. Clearly, we're experiencing mass lunacy.
If Extremism is Mainstream, what are the NEW extremists going to stand for?
Good question !
So what is code pink up to these days?If Extremism is Mainstream, what are the NEW extremists going to stand for?

Giving props to the rowdy town hall screamers on the right, setting up a tent city in Pittsburgh for the G-20, and campaigning to end war, and bring attention to women and children who are refugees because of war:

And other stuff:

But, that begs the question, are Code Pink activitists extremists, or just obnoxious? Do they hold beliefs that are 'extreme'? If so, what are they?
So are you saying that the Code Pink whacks are serving a usefull purpose such as certain bacteria is usefull ? Just asking !!
I don't think it's coincidence that this rise in extremism follows the growth of the internet, a lot of people choose "news" sources and opinions that only bolster their own views.
Imagine if some of the big stories of past decades happened today, 1929, Pearl Harbor, the Vietnam war, JFK, RFK, and MLK assasinations, etc. Lots of people would be forming all sorts of conspiracy theories.
But it's not all bad, for people who get a variety of new and views and frequent forums like this one, where extreme nutiness gets vetted by all, those people are more well-informed than ever before.
...it's just too bad that the idiots tend to breed more.

Nope. However, I am not aware of extremist views that they hold. If they are being characterized as extremists, I'd like to know what views they hold that are extreme? So far as I'm aware, they advocate for getting out war, avoiding future wars, and caring for refugees created by war.
I am not a Code Pink fan, they are obnoxious. But, if they're being characterized as extremists, I'd like to know their extremist views.
That is a fair question indeed !! I view them more as being extreme in their methods more so than in their view (reletively speaking ). The behavior of trying to avoid war for a good reason can be admirable. Yet to be against all war when certain ones are unavoidable or necesssary is no virtue and yest extreme.
Mom and apple pie! The freaks! If Extremism is Mainstream, what are the NEW extremists going to stand for?
Or maybe the increase is in the use of the term "extremist" to slander one's opponents?I don't think it's coincidence that this rise in extremism follows the growth of the internet, a lot of people choose "news" sources and opinions that only bolster their own views.
