Now as for the OP itself, sure, the political nature of the letter is a cause for concern in much the same way the re-opening of the investigation into Hillary was a political move. On the whole, the country isn't served by these kind of things because it erodes trust in institutions being able to minimize their ability to resist purely political actions. The concern coming from Trump supporters though, is about as rich as buttercream frosting.

This gets brought up all the time by some on the right, but this was always about the concerns around the hard drive, since there were concerns of tampering. The timing of this was also highly suspect, which is why many news outlets were hesitant to run with it - including Fox News.

There concern was for the information being disseminated from the copy of the hard drive obtained by Rudy. At no time did they make any claim that the laptop itself or the original drive was fake. Of course they knew the laptop was real ...they had it and the original drive! Firstly, if you don't consider the data which appears to have been added (in reality just moved from one folder to another on the hard drive) there's no credibility in throwing ALL of the data out, which you appear to be wanting to do.
