Injuries reported after reported shooting at South Carolina mall, police say

As a Canadian and originally from Europe, I don't understand this obsession of guns that the Americans have.

Let us say that a government becomes opressive at one point. How is the average Joe going to fight the US military which has the newest weaponery.

Furthermore, a hacker can go into Joe's house and shut off his power or even hack his navigation system in the car. Cyber warfare is the future. How is a gun going to help you?

Without a dose of irony, I am looking for a reasonable argument to understand this phenomen (aside that is part of the Constitution).

And that's why I have a proposal to completely decriminalize undocumented immigrants. The criminals are just going to break the law anyway.

Maybe we should try enforcing our existing laws instead of getting rid of them.

That’s all any sign can do. It keeps law abiding folks disarmed, but does nothing to help solve the “gun crime” problem.

No one ever expected any sign to stop an unwanted behavior.

Maybe you'd like to pose another straw man argument similar to 'gun control advocates believe guns are alive'?

Another day, another shooting. So, it's just another day.

Where were the good guys with guns?
Just as usual, another member of the far left progressive fringe jumping out in front to make silly predictions. Which I would not be so quick to do given some of the preliminary reports. As in the part about "12 injured and THREE people arrested".

Now, I'm not making any predictions either, and this could have been for all we know three people who just went to the mall after their NRA meeting... or maybe a group of miltia members buying camo pants at the Old Navy Store and got into some altercation. However, mall in South Carolina, 12 shot (none yet reported dead), and THREE people arrested....well... "Pat, I would like to solve the puzzle" is my gut reaction.

But, I will wait for more information before jumping ahead.;)

That (bolded above) is a ridiculous assertion. What other purpose do such signs serve?

Nope, laws are to allow prosecution of those who do not obey them.
Then you should tell that to people who argue against gun control laws because only innocent people will follow them.

We have plenty of “gun control” laws now, but they are not being well enforced. It is already illegal for a ‘prohibited person’ to possess any gun in any place - why not make the (mandatory) sentence for violating that very important “gun control” law LWOP?

Frequently Asked Questions about our License Plate Readers
Brookfield Properties Retail centers using Vigilant Technologies
What is the Purpose?
The mall utilizes License Plate Reader (LPR) technology for the purposes of enforcing our Parking Program and for Crime Prevention
and Law Enforcement Investigations. LPR data is NOT used by the mall or third parties for marketing solicitations or target
marketing.
Parking Program
LPR technology is used to help identify employee vehicles that are not parked in designated employee parking areas. This helps us
maintain prime parking areas for customer use.
• LPR technology is used to help identify non-customers and their vehicles, examples include commuters, nearby office
building workers, students at nearby schools, etc. Parking on our private property while going to other places not
associated with the business of the mall is prohibited.
• Repeated non-compliance with our employee parking program and/or abuse of our private property parking lots may result
in enforcement actions allowable by lease or local laws. This may include fining a tenant, towing, or temporarily disabling
the individual’s vehicle in a non-damaging manner with a commercial device intended for such purpose. Towing or the use
of a temporary disabling device may require that a fee be paid to release the vehicle.
Crime Prevention and Investigation
Real time LPR data may be shared with local law enforcement for the purposes of detecting stolen vehicles, stolen license plates,
and/or potentially “wanted” persons.
• LPR may be used to detect vehicles known to be associated with persons that have been banned from the property.
• LPR may be used to assist in detecting vehicles that are suspected of being associated with a recent crime or investigation.
• LPR historical data may be used to assist law enforcement with criminal investigations.

They shouldn't have allowed people without liscenses to carry guns at this mall.

The chief said that three individuals who he classified as "people of interest" were detained. The unidentified individuals were seen armed and at least one of them allegedly fired a shot, according to Holbrook.

"We don’t believe this was random," he said. "We believe the individuals who were armed knew each other."

Store owners locked down and sheltered people in place as the police swept through the shopping center, Holbrook said. They are being reunited with their friends and family members.

You already posted why signs are posted. I already posted why signs are posted. Maybe you've been too cozy with the absurd straw man argument that 'gun-free zone' signs are posted to stop shootings. They're a warning and maybe that warning is a bit of a deterrent.

A deterrent for..............?
