IF Trump gets the GOP nom. and wins the general....

you can thank the entire 8-year Obama administration for their divisive, socialist agenda. The People are tired of it all. We are sick of the far-left wing cronies. Sick of the GOP establishment who are nothing more than left wing cronies in disguise. Don't get me wrong...I am NOT a fan of Trump. I'm a Ted Cruz guy.
Any thoughts on why Trump is doing as well as he is?

Remember....Carter gave us Reagan.
Does your Obama '12 bumper sticker make you feel stupid yet?

Trump is doing as well as he is because a large portion of republican voters and independents are sick of far right wing cronies.

Cruz is a far right wing crony, no matter how much he tries to paint himself a maverick or an outsider.

If the republican party dissolves after this, it will be because of members like you, who refuse to be happy with anything that isn't the far right fringe. When you only have 23% of the nation following you, you have to court the middle too if you want to pull in a majority. But no, shut down the abortion factories and make sure LGBT persons know they're sub-human second class citizens. Democrats will wave as they sail past and never look back. And without any legitimate opposition to keep them in check, they will indulge in their own excesses, which is no better.

Watching the far righties rage is fun for a bit, but it gets old and repetitive rather quickly. The right needs to get their **** together and choke down a hefty dose of reality before this turns into a 1 boat race.

Can you name 5 "far right wing" GOPers in Congress?

"Obama is a socialist", every one drink.

"Trump is the fault of liberals", every one drink.

Most are uninformed I would say. The same type of voters that the Democrats count on to stay in power.

And the same ones Trump has buying his Snake Oil. You seem to think Trump is a Republican and Conservative, so, how does that Snake Oil taste?

IMO, Trump is doing as well as he is because he speaks what is on his mind, un poll tested, unscripted, un politically correct, un memorized just as all of us 'common folk' speak. He speaks to the people and not down to them. He speaks what THEY are thinking, needing, wanting and does not lecture them or insult their intelligence. His half sentences, incompletely expressed thoughts, one and two syllable words as much as possible, and even the insults are the way most of us express ourselves regardless of our educational level, occupation, etc. He sounds real. He comes across as real.

And he speaks to the anger and frustration and utter disgust so many of us have for elected leaders who do poll test what they will say, carefully script it, memorize it, and repeat it again and again in politically correct language. But once they get elected, they forget all that and do what they darn well want to do which is mostly benefit themselves, i.e. increase their power, prestige, influence, and personal wealth.

I suspect, should Trump somehow manage to get through the political opposition and become the nominee, we will see a somewhat different general election candidate. He will be more precise, more presidential, more acceptable.

And I also suspect a President Trump will surround himself with the best, most qualified, most capable people he can find to advise him, teach him, and administrate a government that is currently out of control. He may be an excellent President or a terrible President, but I can't imagine he would be worse than what we have had. And he, of all the candidates, is the one most likely to implement real reforms and get some positive things done.

And I say that as not a Donald Trump supporter.

You know, I do not think I have ever before heard the idea that not preparing is somehow a virtue...

It is what it is. Instead of chalking it up to Conservative talking points, perhaps you should do some investigating and vetting of Obama yourself....I have...you should as well.

No..I never said that. The reason I do not like Trump is because he is a Democrat in disguise. He is no Conservative.

You show no evidence you have. That you do not know what socialism is, nor what personal responsibility is, is not the fault of Obama.

Lol, Obama is NOT a socialist. If you're going to critique Obama (which there are many things you can criticize about him), at least make a ACTUAL criticism.

Trump is not a result of Obama. Trump is a result of the GOP's extreme obstructionist reaction to Obama. At every point in Obama's presidency, the GOP sought to paint him as evil or someone that should be obstructed. When your party has to spend every waking moment trying to sell the public on the economy or domestic and foreign policy being terrible - despite objective evidence to the contrary - then you get and deserve a candidate that will make completely factually inaccurate and contradictory statements, sometimes within 24 hours of each other.

Well...I certainly don't see Hillary or Bernie running on the "success" of the last 7 years of Obama or Hillary's accomplishments as SOS. ...do you?

I'm sorry...you're right...he is not a registered Socialist, he simply harbors socialist ideas, fantasies and agendas.

Exactly. The GOP took the Obama-hatin' too fare, and now most of their entire base is in opposition to them.

I'm not a Republican...but as far as their obstructing of Obama's agenda? they were DOING THEIR JOB. That's how the system is supposed to work.

Excuse me but, if you feel so highly about him, how can you say you are not a Donald Trump supporter?
You apparently described a great candidate for President.

Cruz is clearly an establishment hack job. Sanders and Hillary have no clue as to how to lead the free world, nor do they care to keep it free.

I agree re Sanders and Hillary. I don't agree that Cruz is an establishment hack job, and I had decided he was the closest thing I as going to get to be 'my guy' until he disappointed me with some obvious distortion of the truth and other evidence of less than stellar character. If I had to vote today, however, I would probably vote for him as the one I most trust to make Supreme Court nominations. I am less certain that Donald Trump would use the same criteria to make those appointments.

But if Trump is the candidate, I won't have to hold my nose to vote for him. I'll have my fingers crossed that he can deliver as he says he can.

Actually, Clinton is running in large part on the successes of the last 7 years. Are you following this election at all?

You know, I do not think I have ever before heard the idea that not preparing is somehow a virtue...

Oh I think he is prepared. He just refuses to work from a memorized script as all the others do.

Irrelevant.

Actions speak louder than words. BO is a straight up radical leftist.

No he isn't. He's relatively moderate as those on left go. But then considering that you call yourself very conservative anyone left of Reagan is probably a communist by your measure.

Cruz is about as far from an establishment hack job as one can get.

Oh I think he is prepared. He just refuses to work from a memorized script as all the others do.

I think his flubbing of questions and lack of understanding how the process works suggests otherwise.

Same here. I'm not a supporter of his but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He certainly cannot be any worse than what we have had over the last 7 years. He resonates with people because he speaks their language. And people are sick of the same old establishment crap, well, expect for the left, they'll vote for corruption or commies any day, as long as they get their freebies.

There is just that gut feeling that maybe Trump is exactly what this country needs at this time. I still lean Cruz because of my confidence that he will make Supreme Court nominations that are strict constitutionalists and not activists and I am not that secure with Trump on that issue. But my instincts tell me that if we really are going to have reform, are really going to do things differently that produce better results, Trump is the only one with the chutzpah and skill set to do that. So either way, I would vote with a sense of hope instead of a sigh of resignation.

For sure we cannot continue indefinitely as we are, and it is a near certainty that it will only get worse under Clinton or Sanders.
