I OPEN Carry. Ask me any questions.

I don't dispute any argument that most criminals are rational beings who would rather attack a soft target than a hardened one. But as evidenced by the number of attacks on armored trucks and armed security guards at banks, there are just enough idiots who think getting the guy with the gun is a good idea, and anyone who has already initiated a robbery and is faced with someone who is apparently unarmed and someone else who is armed would target the latter first. He would be irrational if he did not. In fact, however, the greater threat to the robber would be the patron of a bank or retail establishment carrying a concealed weapon because he would have some element of surprise. Also, I think people are forgetting the original legislative argument put forth by supporters of open carry laws (which, incidentally, I also support). It was not so people could showboat in public sporting military-style weapons on their shoulders, but to protect from legal entanglements people with concealed carry permits who mistakenly revealed their weapons--handguns--while performing their normal duties in public. I agree with those who argue that this sort of behavior is counterproductive and only serves to alienate large swaths of the public.

Please link to the data you read which lead you to this conclusion.

I should specify "more of a target for some crimes". If I'm a criminal, and I want a gun, following you shouldn't take long. Also, more of a target for an ambush crime based on location; the guy with the open carry is being shot first of course.

Have fun with the gun you have stolen along with the new hole in your head.

Is crime restricted to crime ridden areas? I don't think the criminals in the "Cheshire Murders" got the memo.

The question was directed at 08 to find out why he finds it so important to carry. Crime is everywhere, but of ourse at different rates.

If I was stealing a gun from an open carry, I'd ambush giving the target no hope of survival/retaliation. The target would be dead (or at least unconscious) before they had any clue why.

Sure you would... I guess why this why cops are being killed in droves for their guns.

You answered your own question. Why is it you should be able to protect yourself if you are only living in or going through "gangland"

If one kills a cop, it will be discovered quickly.

But with your skills, you would long gone by then.

I cannot believe you're making this personal. How silly.

Open carry makes one a potential target for those needing a gun immediately and not worried about how they get it. People that do not open carry do not have this risk. Someone open carrying will obviously be shot first in a robbery attempt wherein murder is already a given. This is a risk not present for a non-open carry.

In each of the above circumstances, an open carry has risks not suffered by others. That said, I support open carry and thank those willing and capable of taking on those risks.

If you'd like, I suppose we can still describe the ambush, and how you'd counter it, then I'll have something up my sleeve but you think fast, etc. I mean, we can have fun writing a little comic book if you really want, but I believe the logic and reason I present above is sufficient for today.

Nope I'm not taking personal. Your the one saying you could ambush me and kill me before I react. Those that CC are potential target due to being seen as a "soft target".

I was trained to ambush armed and prepared opponents. You still wanna do the comic book? How cute.

I was train to counter an Ambush, both Military and Police, care to continue.

Uh, nooo, the question to you was; do you live in a crime ridden neighbirhood? I can surmize that the answer is you don't based on yout evasive reply.

I was trained to counter counter ambush, and we jumped out of planes.

Evasive? my neighbor fall in the middle of the crime level.

So you are going to jump out of plane to still my gun. Do you really want to turn this into Marine Vs Army dick swinging contest.

Why not begin there? Ok, how do you counter it.

I thought we were gonna write a comic book. I think you're asking too much now. If you want a romance novel, you'll have to ask someone else.

In order to open carry pistols, you have to have two holsters and two handguns. Otherwise you are concealed carrying to half of the population.

Pirouetting can solve the problem if you are only carrying one handgun.

Evasive? my neighbor fall in the middle of the crime level.

Sorry but that sentence makes no sense. The question is simply a yes or no: do you live in a crime ridden neighborhood?

If you can't understand that sentence that is on you. It it pretty clear in what it is saying.

Eco you are serious get back to me, but if you really want to jump to get my gun go right ahead.

The question was directed at 08 to find out why he finds it so important to carry. Crime is everywhere, but of ourse at different rates.

Yes it is. I would hardly expect, for example, to be a victim of crime in the neighborhood in which I live. It's not a gated community, but it's somewhat rural and the folks here generally keep to themselves. But I have had something stolen out of my car. That's not particularly alarming, but the person I suspect of doing it was later found to be in possession of a stolen AK-47, which does raise an alarm or two. The point is, you don't know when or where crime is going to happen. You don't know if it's going to be a simple theft or a robbery gone bad that turns into a life-threatening situation.

What anti-gun people fail to understand is that there isn't some thought process like, "I'm going to Publix, I better grab my gun." That's not how it works. People who carry do so because they know that someday they might be a victim of crime and they don't have a crystal ball to determine if today is the day the should just stay home. It's the same reason you wear a seat belt every time you drive, not just the times you think you're going to die in a car wreck if you don't. I never once woke up and thought, "Today I am going to slam head on into a brick wall in the car. I think I'll wear my seat belt today." But one day it did happen.

In short, carrying is purely a preventative measure. No reasonable person wants to take the life of another, or even be in a position where they have to make that life-altering decision. People who paint all people who carry as unreasonable, paranoid, afraid, etc. are bigoted morons. They can't understand anyone whose thought process differs from theirs, even if the evidence is substantial that their point of view is wrong.
