How many of you have had this spam hit you in PRIVATE MESSAGE?

a few weeks ago a russian spammer (the one responsible for most spams about viagra) was shot down

Hopefully, there is not a virus. I don't think there is, it seems to be legitmate (why would someone bother to write a whole book for the sake of infesting our computers with a virus?)

As others have said 'damn and there was i thinking i was someone special :2razz: '

I took a look from a machine that doesn't run a microshite operating system and therefore isn't quite as susceptible to 'viruses'. From what I can see it's just an attempt to get you to part with fifteen bucks for a hard copy. I mean, spammers have to buy christmas presents too !

Hopefully there's something in the site T&C's that can be used against the spammer in question

This is the second board they hit me on ... :doh

anyone else been hit?

It was in my in box too. The e-mail says they are going to pick a random person...not people. Could it be they getting information off computers? If you click on the site ( which I will not) you go to thier site, which means they can remote and ping back on your comuter and take information...like bank account, personal info to get credit cards, etc...

Just my opinion,
Zoo

Yes, and I clicked the site too.

But anyways, it was an interesting book. I'm on chapter 3 now.

that thought came to mind as soon as I entered the post. I did a virus scan and as it turns out, my computer was hacked. And the person purposely filled my computer with so many viruses (over 50,000) that my scanner would overload and wouldn't be able to delete the viruses!

But no need to fear. I opened up my Sanware, found who was pinging my computer, then Command Line: drive C:/ format! Problem solved, virues deleted!

Somewhere out there, a hacker is having to reinstall his operating system.
Aninote.com - Hacker just got OWNED!

I've had it too, didn't click on the link fortunately.

I got it too. But I noticed that this person joined the group
in NOV 2007 and has not made one post so I figured
they were just doing some shameless promoting, and
I have not looked at the site.

PM her back and see if she replies.

As Stace said, this user has been perma-banned.

A good rule of thumb is: Never click on a link from an unsolicited or suspicious source.

we may be overlooking another reason for this spam ... :spin:

It's called LINK RELEVANCE.

A lot of search engines spider other sites and list the links on those sites.

This is typical in improving a search engine listing to aid in finding the other site.

Dumb me ... I should have remembered that ...

they are actually pretty clever for figuring this gimmick out! :applaud

Or, as I said before, hackers.

MY computer had 0 viruses the day before yesterday, and yesterday, after I clicked the link, it had 50,000 +.

Then again, all the porn sites didn't help :/

I got the PM but must have lucked out no virus.

Anyone who clicks on a link in spam deserves whatever happens to them. Think of it as the Darwin Award of the cyber world.

Ouch, Adrian, such a strong statement of accuracy and reality. Ouch! tee hee (I saw it for what it was and deleted before clicking anything) I so agree with your brutal assessment.

That's why I tried to PM them with all of my personal information. :doh :rofl

I received that same PM. It appears to be an attempt to generate hits on that page.

yea life imprisonment for these hackers no need for it.Stop it at the core dunno if it was a virus but ****em

Could be a drive by download. I ignored her message.

I second that!!!

Its sad to see such pessimism. It could just be this was genuine.
What good comes from wishing ill anyway...?
Happy Holidays... but I'm sure your expecting the bell ringer to roll you later and the corner Santa to rob you too.

I am a person who was raised to "prepare for the worst and hope for the best"....
Maybe we should all practice hope a little more.....

The forum crashed from this mass PMing. The PM wasn't genuine. There is no doubt about this.
