A blog article used to condemn gays en masse. This would be laughable if not so pathetically hateful.
The anti-gay sentiment in this thread is real ****ing disturbing.
There is an organized militant homosexual lobby. Brazil is the canary in the coalmine. The homosexual agenda hasn't been stopped before because cultural conservatives acted with too little, too late. I remember that the Defense of Marriage Act was a "sop" to conservatives that wanted a Defense of Marriage Constitutional Amendment.
Apparently you deliberately missed the information provided and linked to in the "Blog", and instead chose to be dismissive.
For the past four legislative sessions, state Rep. Rafael Anchia, D-Dallas, has tried to help those families. Anchia has sponsored legislation to require gender-neutral language in birth certificates. Each time, his bill failed.
Gay parents push to get both names on birth certificates | Dallas Morning News
For nine months, Molly Maness-Roberson carried her infant son, made from her wife’s egg and an anonymous donor’s sperm.
But when she delivered the baby in early July, hospital officials told her that Texas would not list both her and her spouse on his birth certificate. Texas birth certificates include a space for one mother and one father. They don’t allow for two moms or two dads.
“It just really breaks your heart, that’s the only way I can describe how I felt,” said Maness-Roberson, 27, of Burleson...
“No matter what kind of family you have, you’re still a family,” Maness-Roberson said. “I feel like you should be recognized as such.”
Maness-Roberson and Keri Roberson, 37, who married in New York in 2012, said they’d like the birth certificate of their son, Boston, to list both of his moms. As legal instruments, birth certificates can be used to help establish parental rights and to qualify a child for financial support and health benefits.
In Texas, about 9,200 same-sex couples are raising children, according to the Williams Institute, a nonpartisan think tank at the University of California, Los Angeles. The Dallas-Fort Worth area is home to about a quarter of those couples.
For the past four legislative sessions, state Rep. Rafael Anchia, D-Dallas, has tried to help those families. Anchia has sponsored legislation to require gender-neutral language in birth certificates. Each time, his bill failed.
Anchia said he favors South Carolina’s approach. There, birth certificates record the names of the “mother/parent” and “father/parent.”
The legislator said he was motivated by stories of families who struggled to access military benefits or to prove familial ties when visiting someone in the hospital. He said the present Texas form — which did not include gender references until 1997 — creates hardships not only for children of gay couples, but also in cases in which children are adopted by two relatives of the same gender, for example, two aunts or two grandfathers.
“To deny them a birth certificate that reflects their true and loving family is cruel,” he said.

I haven't really seen much but I have seen people upset by one small group trying to railroad the majority...
Oy vey. Still ignoring what the "blog" is reporting on.Hahaha.
From the article:
This is not about removing mother and father from birth certificates, as if we would now not have any names there. It's about providing opportunity to list two same sex parents on the certificate.
The OP title completely misrepresents the intent and purpose of this initiative.
Really? Changing the form from Mother and Father to "Mother/Parent" and "Father/Parent" so gay couples can both be on the certificate is railroading something?
Hahaha.

Militant homexuals sounds a lot like Radical Muslims except that there is nothing remotely siminlar about the two groups... you need to choose better terms.
From what I read they want it changed/removed from ALL birth certificates. If there are options and mother and father are two of them then that is fine. Adding Parent as another option is fine but it did not sound like that was what they were going for.
cookoo cookoo. this wasn't just some guys, this was sponsored legislation by people in a position of power
What is the harm? And who cares if "mother" and "father" are just changed to "parent" and "parent"? What's the harm?

Really?
It denies that the kid has a mother and a father.
Trying to bounce off the other person's reply doesn't cut it.No it does not. They are listed on the birth certificate, in the 2 blanks marked "Parent:".
Hey look, that anti-gay sentiment I was talking about.
Real disturbing.

You said the following.
If "mother" and "father" are just changed to"parent" and "parent".And who cares if "mother" and "father" are just changed to "parent" and "parent"? What's the harm?
really? You need to ask?How does listing the mother and father under the headings "Parent" deny their existence? Mothers and fathers will still be on birth certificates.
really? You need to ask?
In this case it clearly is.Asking a question is not a rational answer.
Please try again.
The only problem here, as already pointed out, was your dismissiveness instead of responding to what was actually said in what was provided.Excon, if your problem is with adoptive parents being on birth certificates, then your problem has nothing to do with gays and everything to do with the way birth certificates work.

Like lyrics from a song they played on Jerry Falwell Sr's "Old Time Gospel Hour" regarding that term: If it's good enough for the preacher, it's good enough for me. The term militant homosexual has been in common use since the 1970s. I don't see a reason to be burdened by recent "political correctness".
Pat Robertson has been also using the term for decades.
