Homeowner Holds Gun On Burglars

Then they'd probably throw you in prison.

We still have to run first in CA. Only if we can't run are we allowed to defend ourselves. Sucks.

And this is where the law is incompatible with defense. Most states have "equal force" laws on the books, stating that once an attacker stops you must let them flee, well, there is a problem in that I don't know if the assailant is trying to get me to drop my guard so he can get a cheap shot in, I don't know if he has help he can alert, etc.

Not saying that gives an excuse to kill anyone, but it definitely is more reason to detain or injure than to just let them flee.
 
If you're in my little apartment close quarters in the dark with me, it's a face full of pepper/mace spray and a 9 iron to the kneecap. The old one-two is better than trying to reach up on the top shelf of my closet for a hand cannon that'll get me thrown into jail. I save that for the riots and zombies. Hell, after the one-two you'll wish I did shoot you.

There are definitely worse ways to go than shot, that said If someone breaks into my home I'm interested in ending the threat, if that means shooting the assailant that's what I'm doing. I know it's cliche but I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

You know you got a point I need cuffs because just dropping them don't mean they won't recover to try again. Though this pepper spray I got in the video demo makes them screwed up long enough for the Long Island police to get to Manhattan. The guys face turned beet red within seconds and he was slobber crying for 45 minutes.

My best friend is a juvenile parole officer, they get the good stuff. He has access to "freeze spray" which is from what I understand about 4X worse than capsaicin. The only drawback to pepper spray is that some people are immune to it, I would only worry that I have someone so high breaking into my place that they don't even feel the effects, then again small bore pistols don't work on those types either. I'm all about ending a threat in an effective manner though.

Fortunately, I haven't faced that scenario and hopefully never will but this spray I have is a combo of mace/dye and pepper spray. Really nasty stuff and like you said, unless you hit the heart, head or vital organ dead on a hype will keep on coming. A pistol is not a 100% sure way of stoppage like a taser. But those stun guns are basically painful toys. I've seen them demo'd on Youtube by teenagers fooling around and they wouldn't stop a chihuahua. Apparently the skin is an excellent conductor of electricity and spreads the current, where a taser penetrates the epidural layer electrocuting the nervous system. Much different sensation from being skin zapped to internally seizing.

Your right but if the voltage is high enough on a stun gun it will disable albeit a short time...for all those with stun guns..try for the neck...dont hit and pull back and try to hit again...stick it to them and HOLD IT THERE thats the way to get the most benefit...another point if your walking with it to protect against dogs..if you see an aggressive dog coming just take the stun gun and start zapping it...it creates ozone and dogs hate the smell of ozone and many times will avoid you...

Forget handguns when your older and if your not well trained...get a combat shotgun and put it next to your bed...you should sleep closest to the bedroom door to facilitate protecting your wife...thats what I do so i never have to fire over her...that is a mistake alot of people make...

Tasers aren't even 100%, another buddy has a cousin who is a Fla. LEO, they had a guy hopped up on PCP that started as a domestic call. They beat him with batons, broke them on the guy actually, used tasers, and finally had to shoot to kill. The guy injured 2 or 3 officers before they took him down and iirc they put 35 or 36 .357 rounds in him before he succumbed. That's the guy I don't want to face.

I live in Texas, so that isn't an issue for me. No telling what a burglar will do when caught in the act, and if there's two? That just seals it. The risk far exceeds the consequences of some silly-assed state doctrine. These homeowners are lucky to be alive.

California has insanely oppressive laws in most facets of society. Probably all. They still haven't received the memo that society can't be micromanaged. I don't understand why people still live there.

You are absolutely correct...look what bath salts does to people...they had to shoot the face eater in miami I believe 4 times and he still kept comin and that 4 40calibre rounds taser wouldnt have stopped him

Many years ago..we locked up a tourist for standing up in a bar and lifting an ripping upward like 65 feet of bar top...he was a huge samoan...this guy was so broad at the shoulders he made me look small..we cuffed him and he was smiling and as Im looking at him I started to ask why do you have that silly grin on your face and he just reached out and handed me a broken set of cuffs...my first thought was to shoot him...he smiled and said ill get in the car and he just climbed in the back..and was as docile and nice as could be...THANK GOD...

I have a buddy from Hawaii, he was telling me about his Samoan friends, usually very nice people but don't piss them off. They will comply as a rule, fantastic club security, huge people, but nice as can be if they are treated with respect, true to a warrior heritage they follow their cultural rules to a T.

He was reportedly shot 12 times before he finally kicked. He was on some powerful stuff, so were the other crazies. One of them ripped his belly open and threw his guts at the cops, and the other was also a cannibal if I remember right.

La this guy was so huge he intimidated us...we were very very edgy around him..and when he broke those cuffs I almost soiled my shorts...I had heard about guys breaking cuff stories..not alot either a couole....but I only saw it once and that was it...

Crazy stuff, but I believe it. I carry a minimum .40 cal because of the stopping power and always hope it's enough if God forbid it becomes that type of life and death situation for me.

La its not about the caliber its about where you aim...thats the most important....like the 12 shots it took to take down the miami face eater...if the first shot went through his heart he would be dead no matter what...but the police im sure expended a few rounds trying to stop him not kill him first...then adrenaline kicks in nerves muscles tighten and as a human you make mistakes...no reason to shoot anyone 12 times..unless your not trying to kill them or your missing your mark.

True enough. I don't believe in putting myself at risk so if I should be forced to stop I'm going center mass for a lung or heart shot. Again, this is hoping I never have to.
