Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem transported by ambulance to DC-area hospital, sources say

What people don't realize it is very easy to get vests that say, Police, ICE etc...I have seen multiple pictures of people that do not come close to fitting what an ICE agent would be...even under cover they have dress code requirements.
Some of the masked men have to be Proud Boys and Jan6th insurrectionists.

Or, alternatively, the Ayatollahs and IRGC are all put up against the wall and Iran becomes a democracy. I would bet that if the Iranian people were freed of the bastards running them and syphoning off their wealth, and the sanctions were lifted, Iran could give any Western nation a run for their money in terms of freedom, openness and economic dynamism. It could become an absolute haven for an untold numbers of expats the same way Spain and Portugal are except with even better food. Nothing against Spain, but Persian cuisine is second-to-none.
That would of course be the ideal, but this timeline is a broken mess and so I'm not betting that way.

Not gonna happen the Trump-Netanyahu way. Obama's way was path dependent, but, ****ing Trump.

I wonder if there are Persian restaurants in the states. There is a Turkish restaurant next to a middle eastern grocery shop near me.

There are plenty in Southern California and Los Angeles. Absolutely amazing stuff, especially if you like kabob and rice.

There's an amazing book, Reading Lolita in Tehran, which describes the period between when Iran was run as a mostly secular society and how the religious extremists took advantage of their war with Iraq to basically take over the nation. It was gradual (but not that gradual) and really fascinating...and all too familiar a story.

It's a very interesting read, I suggest it for anyone who's interested in how such a free society was undermined from the inside, into an autocratic one.

Oh, yeah. None of that TexMex shit, either.

Sonoran food is my medicine.

My dad is from New Mexico and he loves cooking, so I am very partial to enchiladas with both red and green Hatch chili myself. I've never been a big fan of Tex Mex.

With my mom being from Iran (and a great cook) we had really good cooking in the house growing up.

That's what he said. We have an authentic one hereabouts, called Consuelos, but the three brothers who run it are from Mexico City, so I imagine, different?

Also, in the spirit of the thread, Kristi Noem something something else something more.

Noem is in the hospital, and I have the world's best food available made by immigrants.

I don't believe in karma, but the irony is almost as tasty as the food.
