Homeland Security Report Lists ‘Liberty Lovers’ As Terrorists

Yeah, there were lots of us like that. They wouldn't let you start school unless you were 6 before or on the start date. I was born in January so I was 8 months older than the rest of the kids.

Our cut off was Sept 17th. You had to be six by that date. Since I wasn't going to be 6 until Sept 21st, they wouldn't let me in even though I passed the assessmetns. And this was back when you didn't have pre-K in the elementary school and Kindergarten was only a half day.

It may not come as surprising news to many of you that the United Nations doesn’t approve of our Second Amendment. Not one bit. And they very much hope to do something about it with help from some powerful American friends. Under the guise of a proposed global “Small Arms Treaty” premised to fight “terrorism”, “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates” you can be quite certain that an even more insidious threat is being targeted – our Constitutional right for law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.

What, exactly, does the intended agreement entail?

While the terms have yet to be made public, if passed by the U.N. and ratified by our Senate, it will almost certainly force the U.S. to:

Enact tougher licensing requirements, creating additional bureaucratic red tape for legal firearms ownership.
Confiscate and destroy all “unauthorized” civilian firearms (exempting those owned by our government of course).
Ban the trade, sale and private ownership of all semi-automatic weapons (any that have magazines even though they still operate in the same one trigger pull – one single “bang” manner as revolvers, a simple fact the ant-gun media never seem to grasp).
Create an international gun registry, clearly setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation.

I don't remember the exact date, but we usually went back to school the day after Labor Day. I do remember kindergarten being a half day, though. I also remember there were so many kids that we had to alternate between the mornings and afternoons in the first and second grades. We were all baby boomers born after the war, and we completely mobbed the schools.

I'm not really a huge fan of the U.N., so it probably isn't surprising that I'm not a big fan of this proposal.

If you look at statistics, many of the areas with the highest levels of gun-related violence are also areas with some of the most strict gun control laws. Additionally, all things considered, deliberate gun violence is relatively rare in the general populace. You have the occasional crazy, but most gun violence is committed at the hands of convicts, criminals, and gang members. That being the case, how the hell are heavier restrictions going to keep people any safer or prevent terrorism?? The black market ain't going anywhere, for one.

Did you go to school north of the Mason Dixon?? When I lived in Michigan, school started at the first of September and ended in June. Down here in Texas, school starts the third week in August and ends in May.

The Department of Homeland Security should be terminated.

I see most of this as typical knee-jerk right wing ranting. There isn't a Gubmint plot to saturate the media, it seems the right wingnut media is beating this drum. (NOW you can trot out the 'lamestream media ignores REAL news' tired ol' pony  )

Given the number of reports, conferences, position papers, research studies on Islamic terrorists- a paper on non Islamic terrorists groups doesn't seem too sinister. I will agree with many right wing apologists, most the loud talk and over the top rants done by the 'lovers of liberty' is just empty rants by folks who barely get up to go to the fridge much less take to the streets. However if one group's member(s) pulls off another OKC type bombing the out cry would be intense.

There is a history of threats and loose cannons in some right wing protests groups. Why not take a closer look into some of them? The left wing and black protest groups sure have been examined, some blamed but never convicted of most what folks accused them of.

Can we say 'Tempest in a teapot'?

suuuure ya can....

I remember New Black Panther members intimidating white voters in Philadelphia. I also remember Eric Holder demanding no prosecution for them, even after his own justice department started the prosecution. Now, there wouldn't be a motive to protect the members of his race would there, while considering anything white and conservative, terrorist like?

South, as in Virginia. The September to June schedule was adhered to in the city, but in the rural parts of Virginia, it was August to May so the farm kids could help their parents on the farm. As I understand it, everyone is all on one schedule, now, starting after Labor Day.

Yeah, there was something about this story several years ago, and it caused Janet Napolitano to backtrack and make excuses, but it looks like that we extreme right winged conservatives are now under the RADAR again. Fancy that. Communists don't like us. Imagine.
It was a bumble**** stupid idea to roll over and give the govt all the leeway to "fight terror" we have given it in the past decade. At the time many people were clamoring for it and saying that only liberals were against giving the govt more power.

Here's the bed we made.
sleep tight

Sorry but what you "remember" is various right wing interpretations of what happened on that election day.. There were no white voters to "intimidate" at that polling place and the black voters were laughing at the NBP clowns.

Not sure why Forbes is printing such garbage when they are usually pretty good on economic matters at least.

International Gun Ban Treaty? December 5, 2009

Why are the righties so paranoid? Is it simply because they refuse to accept reality, with it's well-known liberal bias, and prefer living in an artificial world of their own construct? OR is there some other cause for their often irrational beliefs?

Hasn't anyone else noticed that this report on "Liberty Lovers" and other rightie groups only covered the period up to 2008?
