Olbermann Watch - MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann: Another Day, Another Olbermann Lie

Another Day, Another Olbermann Lie

Actually more than just one, but the only way to keep Keith Olbermann honest is to do it one lie at a time. On his Monday night program, Edward R Olbermann once again smeared his chief competitor and uber-Olbsession. Olby quoted Bill O'Reilly, the man who triples or quadruples his ratings on a regular basis:

OLBERMANN [quoting O'REILLY]: "To be fair, CNN has covered the Haiti story very well. There's no question about it. And I applaud the CNN correspondents who have done such a good job. But our Fox News correspondents are just as good."

OLBERMANN: Then why don't you put them on, instead of stroking yourself in front of the American public? Just once.

O'Reilly won't put Fox correspondents on the air to cover the Haiti earthquake? Not even once? Is that what you're saying, Keithy?

ITEM: The Factor debriefed Fox News correspondent Steve Harrigan, who has been reporting from the ground in Haiti. "The biggest surprise," Harrigan said, "was driving around a corner and seeing fifty women and girls naked, soaping up on the street...."

ITEM: Geraldo Rivera, who was in Haiti over the weekend, joined The Factor with his reaction. "I was at the airport," Rivera reported...

ITEM: FNC's Jonathan Hunt, also in Haiti, expressed his personal reaction to the carnage. "The smell of death is hanging over large parts of this city," Hunt said...."

ITEM: Two parents whose daughters are missing in Haiti gave an emotional appeal for help on Wednesday's program. As promised, The Factor pursued the story with Geraldo Rivera, who reported from the hotel where the girls were staying. "This is a very melancholy place," Rivera said....

It should surprise no one that Keith Olbermann lies. Remember that we're still waiting for him to retract one of his whoppers from last week. So don't expect him to tell the truth about Bill O'Reilly. Ever.

Wait, wait. Is this were you're expecting lefties to defend him? I don't give a rat's ass about Olbermann and his huge ego.

Media Matters is bad, but Olbermann watch is gud. LoLz

I just hate that type of "news." I don't want to hear about Fox 75% of the time (I don't watch for a reason) and I don't give a rat's ass who he thinks is the worst person of the day.

I liked Worst Person In The World, but for the humor. Any one dumb enough to take it seriously deserves to be made fun of.

"K.O. are psycho boys initials and hopefully we have seen the last of "it".

I'd probably watch Olbermann if he were on a non news network. I certainly watch Jon Stewart regularly (he's on the right station!), and relish when he tears Fox a new asshole. I just cannot stand commentary on networks that should consider themselves serious about informing people.

Jon Stewart is a different breed. While he is clearly liberal, he is not above criticizing his own party or having level-headed discussions with people he disagrees with. In fact, he is always asking both Palin and Beck to debate with him, but neither of them is willing (because they know he'd shred them).

It's easy to call someone a liar when you put words into their mouth. You don't seem too sure about that he meant.

I guess when you only show 2 quoted lines from an hour show, it's hard to understand the context.

Now, MM, the site you love to hate will do you the courtesy of posting the transcript of the entire segment, so readers can decide for themselves. Your source, 2 lines from the show--you really can't take things more out of context then that.

Not saying Olberman was right, wrong, lying or otherwise, but given the limited context, who the hell knows.

I get the feeling you don't like Oberman. :coffeepap

They both have egos... what is there to debate?

Olbermann, Schultz, and Matthews have no busineww being on the air because they all lie their asses off and just make crap up then share it with the others as if it were fact.

Olbermann and Schultz are sports guys and I have no idea if they were any good at it but as news commentators they suck big time.

I believe people who have been trained in journalism and possibly have some political experience ar4e better than people like these and even Rush who I can't stand because he will tell you what to think.

If you need to be told what to think you must be a Liberal.

BTW a large part of Rush's audience are Liberals wanting to know what he is up to.

And this is different than Beck, Hannity and O'Rielly? How?
