... Cookies.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

Do you think cookies should be hard or soft?

Now, bit of a stupid question because it could depend on the type of cookie, but let's just use Chocolate Chip, the all time classic as our example.

To me, a cookie should be more on the soft side, chewie.

What say you?

Soft cookies are the only way to go.

If I'm eating a cookie, I better not suddenly feel a chip in my tooth after I swallow.

I voted "hard," but I would prefer to use the term "crisp," like those buttery thin-baked chocolate chip cookies. Those are my favorites.

Its not even a comparison to me. Cookies should be soft and warm. When I think of hard cookies I think of those disgusting cardboard mass produced cookies.

Chocolate chip right out of the oven; just like the old Crispy Creme, right outta the batter at 0200 hrs!

It depends on the cookie. Some examples:
-- I like hard ginger snaps, but if they sit out too long and get soft, I'll still eat them. LOL
-- I like soft chocolate chip cookies.
-- I like hard Pepperidge Farms' hard and soft cookies, but I mostly go for Pirouettes, Bordeaux, Brussels and Milano cookies from them, so more hard than soft.
Frankly, though, I care more about how a cookie tastes than I do about whether it's soft or hard. There's likely no cookie I wouldn't eat on account of its being hard.

You can keep your cakes and pies and ice cream, I'll have a good soft chocolate chip cookie any day over most desserts.
Maybe too good though, I find it hard to stop eating them.

Take chocolate chip cookie dough, and bake it in a brownie pan.

You're welcome.

Not at all, always hated them growing up. never understood why anyone likes them.

Oh, okay. So you weren't being sarcastic. Fine, more for me.

I like them because I think they taste good....There's little I don't like about the combination of ginger and sugar...the flour in the cookie is merely a base that carries those two elements to my tongue.

Not too soft, but more chewy.
My mind is on the upcoming holidays.

My family's favorite... Molasses cookies

1-1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup molasses
4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons baking soda
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup chopped pecans
3/4 cup coarse sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and molasses. Combine the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Fold in pecans.
Shape into 2-in. balls and roll in coarse sugar. Place 2-1/2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 13-15 minutes or until tops are cracked. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Preach it. Eliminates all those thin crispy, wasted edges.

We do a blonde brownie for Christmas that is essentially just what you described.
I do special occasions on the pizza pan making a round one like the shops in the mall. Perfection.
