Haiti is descending further into lawlessness as gangs take control of more areas.

Haiti's gangs have gained "near-total control" of the capital and authorities are unable to stop escalating violence across the impoverished Caribbean nation, senior UN officials warned Wednesday.

An estimated 90 per cent of the capital, Port-au-Prince, is now under control of criminal groups who are expanding attacks not only into surrounding areas but beyond into previously peaceful areas, Ghada Fathy Waly, executive director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, told the UN Security Council.

Trump wants to send Hatians back to this, claiming Haiti is safe...

The environmental situation in Haiti has improved enough that it is safe for Haitian citizens to return home," the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in an accompanying statement.

But the US State Department warns that Haiti is anything but safe...

The DHS statement came even as the State Department currently assigns Haiti its highest travel advisory level, advising Americans not to travel there due to "kidnapping, crime, civil unrest and limited health care."

They wanted independence. They got it. And this is what they do with it. We don’t need them brining their incompetence and perpetual humanitarian crisis here.

America is full of descendents of refugees who thrived and helped build America.

Europeans including Jews and others from all over the world escaping war and persecution didn't "bring it here". They came to escape hardships, not reproduce it in their new home.

Says a lot that French colonial rule was so much worse, doesn’t it ;)

That was when the country didn't have welfare programs and did have boundless opportunity. Things are different now.

First they came for the Haitians, but I said nothing because I wasn't a Haitian...

The 'gangs' IS Haitians. And Haitians IS the gangs. Without outside rule (i.e French) they become equivalent.

It’s what they need because they don’t know what to do with freedom. Other than rape and murder each other.
The French extensively raped and murdered during their time in control of Haiti, so that claim is so utterly ignorant it’s almost impossible to put into words.

The fact that many countries that shed French rule (including Canada) went on to thrive punches a big hole in your position.

Maybe you shouldn't support a man who trashes your economy.
I didn't. I was always against Biden and his puppet masters.

Biden isn't President. If your country no longer offers opportunity it's on the man who promised a "golden age" and hasn't delivered.

Like every country is the same? We are not talking about many, we are talking about this one specific instance. It's the Haitian people that's the problem.

Do you mean "are Haitians"? But you did it twice and capitalized it so maybe there is a meaning to "IS"?

Ehhh, that's okay, Putin will be luring Haitian gang members to the war in Ukraine soon enough, and then he will establish a military foothold there, seven hundred miles off the US mainland, starting with "training academies" of course.
I've been warning of the national security risks of ignoring Haiti for ten years now.
Don't think for a moment that Putin isn't watching developments in the island nation for some time, I guarantee you he's very interested.

Some Haitians are the problem. The rest are victims.

Hatians that moved to America did so because they wanted no part of the gangs or lawlessness.

……why would he do any of this when Russia is already close friends with Cuba, which is an infinitely better base than Haiti on every level?

Y’all are so obsessed with Putin it’s destroying basic logic.

True, but without an effective and trustworthy government in place there is little way of vetting (determining?) an individual’s status to allow/reject US entry.

That's quite often the case with refugees. So some admissions are decided with incomplete information and a judgement that yes this person would be in danger in Haiti based on interviews.

So you admit them and if that individual turns to criminality you deport them.
