Just curious to see what the members of the forum know about....

I at least know their ilk seems to be mentioned in Scripture:

“And the sovereigns of the earth, and the great ones, and the rich ones, and the commanders, and the mighty, and every slave and every *free man*, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him sitting on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?’” (Revelation [of The Messiah] 6:15-17, emphasis added)

What do you mean by "their ilk"? Please give me an answer without quoting scripture. Not everyone believes in that fantasy.

Go to college with stoner roommates and you'll learn plenty. However, all I know is the conspriacy mumbo jumbo about Illuminati and New World Order.

Also it's somehow connected to Satan? Or am I rambling...eh..Knowledge is power!

Masons are normal people. theyre your neighbors, doctors, clerks, whoever. Freemasonry is a fraternal organization that promotes "Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth". it isnt very faith-based but they do require members to profess some kind of belief in a God (doesnt matter what religion). its kind of a social club that does a lot of community service and charity while giving strong support to their members.

98% of the conspiracies you hear about Masons is pure bullshit. the idea of a 'secret-society' is just intriguing to people.

According to Webster, "ilk" is a Scottish term meaning something like "sameness".

Your comment about Scripture being fantasy comes (at least in part) either from ignorance of validation outside of itself or intellectual dishonesty.

Which is it?

For most Masons, that is essentially so. However, members who have advanced to higher degrees, and depending a bit upon what is here meant by "faith-based" would say quite differently if they were to break their oath of secrecy and even talk about things such as blood covenants. Yes, it is likely that "98% of the conspiracies you hear about Masons is pure bullshit", but the remaining percentage is not ... and the idea of a 'secret-society' is truly more than "just intriguing to people."

As a mason I figured I should chime in here. I was very curious for a long time about Freemasons and wondered if all of these stories I had heard growing up where true, so I decided to find out for myself. I contacted my local lodge and petitioned to become a member. I was accepted and went through their initiations and I made it to the status of master mason. Yep it was that easy and any male above the age of 21 can petition to become a member at any lodge. They are not a "secret society", they have published lists of all their members so how can they be secret. The only secrets we have are our means of telling if a person is a mason through our symbols, handshakes, etc. We hold open lodges all the time so anyone who wants to come in and check us out can. Basically what Firemanryan said in his post best describes masons. We don't worship satan, we are not the NWO and I have yet to hear any political conspiracies being hatched. What we have done is raise money for various charities and help the community when ever possible. If you want a good example of what we do look no further then the Children’s Hospital which is run by the Shriners (you know the guys in tiny cars and funny hats) those are upper level masons and as you can see they are not worshiping satan either, they are helping sick children.

Oh yah and Leejosepho's bible quote has nothing to do with masons, notice the words "free men" came after words slave.

I'm glad to see a brother Mason on the forum.

You are absolutely right. We are not a secret society, but rather a discreet society.

A secret society is one which hides its existence.

Other examples besides the Shriners Childrens Hospitals are:

The Red Cross.......founded by Masons
The Boy Scouts.....founded by Masons.
The Mayo Clinic.... " "

Some of the better known Masons:

Pres. William Taft, Sir Walter Scott, Anwar Sadat, Pres, Franklin Roosevelt, George Washington, Paul Revere, Pres. James Monroe, Thurgood Marshall, Gen. Douglas McArthur, Rudyard Kipling, Sam Houston, President Andrew Jackson, Winston Churchill, John Hancock, Samuel Gompers, Alexander Fleming, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, David Crockett, William "Buffalo Bill" Cody, Admiral Byrd, Walter Chrysler, John Wayne, President James Buchanan, James Audubon, Irving Berlin, Hugo Black, Mark Twain, Patrick Henry, Daniel Boone, James Doolittle, Mozart, Jim Bowie, Omar Bradley, Robert Burns, Napoleon Bonaparte, Kit Carson, Andre Citroen,Nat King Cole, William Douglas, President Gerald Ford, Henry Ford, Benjamin Franklin, John Paul Jones, Presiden James Garfield, President Warren Harding, Benito Juarez,Marquis de Lafayette, President William McKinley, Simon Bolivar, Pres. James Polk, Will Rogers, Pres. Theodore Roosevelt, John Phillip Sousa, Pres. Harry Truman, Booket T. Washington....

There are of course many, many more household names who belong to this august institution.

So, please excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between the illuminati and the masons??

I guess your question is rhetorical but I will try to answer anyways. At the core of all conspiracy theories lies the belief that everyone involved is either brainwashed, ignorant or in on the whole thing. There in lies the rub, any arguments posed by these individuals can not be believed. So even though I can sit here and tell you how good masons really are and all the good things they do you will still believe in your conspiracy. Just because some guy comes up with the idea that the world is controlled by some elite group doesn’t make it true. Hell I can say that the gays are purposely destroying the soil, so you can’t farm it or build on it, in an attempt to create giant landing strips for gay aliens. No one knows it could be true, but somehow I doubt it. My only suggestion is to find your local lodge and pay them a visit, see for yourself who these people are and then make up your mind.

Honestly, I do not doubt that even most Masons know FreeMasonry as it appears from the outside. However, there are reasons those "funny hats" worn by the "upper level masons" are shaped and colored as they are ... and that kind of thing is just the tip of the iceberg:

FREEMASONRY AND LUCIFERIANISM

The remarkable proliferation in the world of Satanism and witchcraft during the last 275 years is largely unrealized by the public. The confusion has been largely due to the covert nature of the movement that is inherent in the various branches of Freemasonry, the "Mother Church" of Satanism and Luciferianism.

Masonry had its roots in the Merovingian dynasty in France, which claimed that Jesus only pretended to die on the cross, but actually hid away in the cult of the Essenes in the Middle East and married Mary Magdalene. Some traditions claim that Jesus later went to India and even Tibet, where he studied the mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism, and is alleged to be buried somewhere in India.

According to the legend, when the Roman armies devastated Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and destroyed Solomon's Temple, Mary Magdalene fled with her sacred children to southern France. There she was protected by the Priory of Sion [Zion] and eventually one of her descendants married into French Royalty. The first of these descendant who became king of the Frankish peoples was Merovee. Hence the Merovingian dynasty. As such, they claim to be Jews of the Davidic line. The quest for the Holy Grail is the search for the cup out of which Jesus is alleged to have drunk at the Last Supper. A part of this tradition is the "Spear of Longinus" which was supposed to have been the one that pierced Jesus' side. Adolph Hitler claimed to possess the spear, which was alleged to magically guarantee a Nazi victory in Europe. The Merovingian story is detailed in J. R. Church's Book "GUARDIANS OF THE GRAIL." The Priory of Sion is evidently of origin in Mystery Babylon, and this shadowy group cried the traditions of the ancient Babylonian religions into the Catholic Church in 496 A.D. Mystery Babylon is in reality the Satanic conspiracy to establish Globalism, a world state dominated by Lucifer/Satan. Freemasonry today still claims that Jesus is dead, and that the only real god of this world is Lucifer..

The historic trail of the Merovingians and the Holy Grail is detailed in the Books, "HOLY BLOOD, HOLY GRAIL, and "THE MESSIANIC LEGACY" by Baigent, Leigh, and Lincoln. The roots of Freemasonry grew out of a secret order in the Priory of Sion and was founded twelve centuries before the beginnings of the English branch of Freemasonry in 1717. French Freemasonry was organized as a separate branch in 1725. There has long been bitter rivalry and conflict between English and French Freemasonry.

The founders of English Freemasonry were Rosicrucians. They believed in reincarnation, and were polytheistic, accepting Christians, Buddhists, Moslems, and Hindus in equal status. The English United Grand Lodge is the Mother of all modern secret societies and cults. They are definitely "New Age."

The leadership is aristocratic and is composed of the English Nobility who are mostly monarchist and wealthy. Some are middle to upper class industrialists and bankers, along with prominent professionals. They are pro-business, capitalistic, right-wing, and monopolistic. Politically they are Corporate Socialist and Fascist. Many of them were Nazi sympathizers and helped to bring Hitler to power in the 1920s and 30s. They dominate Freemasonry now in Great Britain, Canada, the Northeastern United States [Eastern Establishment] Asia, Australia, and South Africa. They established Skull and Bones at Yale to train the future leadership of American politics.

French Freemasonry [1725] had similar roots and included the Knights Templar who had been organized in 1118 A.D. to help wrest Jerusalem and the "Holy Land" from the Moslems. The French Grand Lodge and the French "Ordo Templi Orientis" are poor, left wing, and formerly Atheistic, until General Albert Pike Illuminized the Lodges and they began to worship Lucifer in 1889. They tended to be lower to middle class, left wing, anti-business, and favor a socialist or communist republic. Originally, the French Lodge dominated Europe, the Southern US, the Philippines and Latin America. Karl Marx and the organizers of the communist French Revolution were members of the French sub-branch, known as the clandestine "Grand Orient Lodge." The Ordo Templi Orientis are assassins and drug dealers.

The Scottish Rite was organized out of French Freemasonry by members of the Templars who had fled to Scotland. They derive much of their doctrine from the Jewish Cabala, and are sometimes known as the "Jewish Rite" although it actually grew out of Mystery Babylon. They often call themselves "Juwes."

Both the English and the French branches of Freemasonry are heavily involved in the drug cartels. The Knights Templar, originally crusaders, became the protectors of the Priory of Sion, and after they discovered the enormous wealth of Solomon's Temple, which was evidently a large hoard of gold, they became bankers and financiers.

The York Rite was founded in America after the Revolutionary war, and retained the original three degrees. All Masons in America must travel through the "Blue Lodge" which comprises the first three degrees, before choosing either the York Rite or the Scottish Rite. The latter has developed 33 degrees, and probably goes higher. I have heard of the 90th degree. The "Shrine" unites the third degree York Rite and the 32nd degree Scottish Rite.

In American Freemasonry, we can in general separate the Northern and the Southern Jurisdiction. The Northern, or Eastern Establishment, is right wing or moderate, and is usually Republican. The Southern is liberal or left wing. Pro-labor Unions, and usually Democrat or Socialist. These faction are engaged in bitter rivalry, and the result has been much suffering of the middle class. The English Lodge considers itself the dominant force. Mainly upper class, they have desired to subdue the middle class and destroy the lower class, whereas the French Lodge, left wing and liberal/socialist wants to destroy the upper and middle class. Interestingly, the Mafia, the Asian Triads, and the South American "Shining Path" are all sub-branches of Freemasonry. The "Order of the Golden Dawn" are radical Satanists, and are associated with the Bavaria Thule Society which sponsored Hitler. It too is homicidal, often homosexual, and forms the inner core of the Nazi movement even today.

Further spin-offs of Freemasonry include the Theosophical Society, founded by female mason Helena Blavatsky. Notorious Aleister Crowley was a member, and both are founders of the New Age religion of "Mother Gaia." Ron Hubbard's Church of Scientology is the recruiter for the Ordo Temple Orientis [O.T.O.] the licentious, drug dealing assassins who are involved in child pornography, human sacrifice, sexual orgies, and ritualistic Satanic murder.

Other descendants of Freemasonry include the Mormon Church and the Jehovah's Witnesses. Master Mason Joseph Smith founded a new Masonic Rite at Nauvoo Illinois. He founded a new rite at the Masonic temple and planned to make the Mormon Rite a superior rite in Freemasonry. He was apparently murdered because of this by other masons in the Illinois Grand Lodge. After Smith was killed in a gunfight, Freemason Brigham Young took the followers of Mormonism to the Salt Lake Valley and founded the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All of the Apostolic successors of the Mormon Church have been Freemasons: Wilford Woodruff, Lorenzo Snow, Joseph F. Smith, Joseph Fielding Smith, Heber J. Grant, and David O. MacKay. [I believe Ezra Taft Benson was also a Mason, because the General authorities of the Mormon Church are required to be at least Blue Lodge Masons.]

Each of the at least 160 organizations that are secretly or openly associated with Freemasonry have the secret agenda of a conspiracy to form the One World Government, a Corporate Socialist world state run by wealthy Masonic elites.

Actualy I'm sorry you read all of that stuff and believe it to be true, but since I can make no argument you will believe I'm afraid I don't know what else I can tell you.

I do not necessarily believe *all* of that, for that article almost undoubtedly contains at least a bit of spin. But having read and heard and observed and experienced and come to see through many such kinds of things previously believed by me to be either harmless or even good (or accurate), I do know there is at least *some* substance there ... and I would gladly continue to consider anything anyone at all has to say either way on the matter of FreeMasonry.

Well I must apologize then, my first impression was that you where completely off your rocker, but after the last post I can see you are trying to keep an open mind, and you do have a since of humor about all of this. I can't argue with anything that those sources say because they offer no way of providing proof for either side of their argument. I can say that most of the masons I have met have been very good people and I have yet to see any crazy satanic rituals or plots to over throw the government, believe me if I did I would be out of there very quickly.

Well, I know that there are 33 degrees of knowledge in the Masonic structure. The 33rd is reserved for only the most ambitious and accomplished. Quite a few world leaders historically have attained the 33rd, including exectives in the WHO, World Bank, and EU. So, how can any Mason really say beyond a doubt that the Mason's do not have an ambition to control the world. As it's appears they already do! Here's the conspiracy: The lower members are a front who do lots of the grunt charity work to promote the wholesome Mason image. While the few elite who are actually privilaged (i.e. illuminati) are the only ones who know the true ambition of the Mason's. Since you are not amongst this rank, there is no way you could possibly have the knowledge to argue against this point. George Bush's father, I believe was in the 33rd degree. And look where we are today.

I'd like to know what was discussed when Tony Blair attended a Bilderburger meeting before he was elected in 1997.

As best I can recall, I have only ever personally known two Masons, and although I have seen neither for some time, I would not have hesitated to let either of those men borrow my lawnmower or take my children along with theirs for an afternoon at the park.

Dr. Stanley Monteith -- http://www.radioliberty.com/ -- is probably one of the most sane speakers I have ever heard on the matter of conspiracy. In so many words, he points out the foolishness of believing any one group is responsible for "everything" and/or of insisting all "secret societies" are in perpetual (if actually even any) communication with each other.

Bottom line? Dylan sang it: "Ya gotta serve *somebody* ..."

Personally, and "just to be safe", if nothing more, I have no affiliation with *any* organization of men.
