lol...you gotta love this. Even in FeministLand, men run everything. No wonder so many sites are pro-porn and support the trans invasion of women's spaces.

Who run the world? Dudes - Feminist Current

Jezebel is owned by Gawker Media (i.e. Nick Denton) who also, it’s worth noting, founded Fleshbot, a porn blog...

As Wright points out, Bustle’s tagline reads “by & for women,” but would be more accurate if it read “by & for the pockets of one very rich dude.” Same goes for The Frisky, who not only pray at the altar of corporate male gods, but of the porn industry as well.

… They aren’t alone.

A number of other “feminist” sites are listed in Wright’s peice, along with their male overlords, including xoJane and The Mary Sue. Not included are magazines that are vying for feminist cred, like Cosmo (owned by the dudely Hearst Corporation), who published a whopping 108 porn-related articles in 2014 and even more the following year

Emanzipation will come some day, dude. ;)

To be fair, I did find it odd that so many feminist sites promoted porn. There is not a single feminist I have ever personally known who speaks well of porn. At least now I know what's behind the porn push at Jezebel...dudes.

Really? The feminists I know are pretty pro-porn and pro-sex workers in general. A pretty core belief of feminism is women have the right to do what they want with their own bodies.

Maybe dykes consume porn in the closet, so to speak. ;)

Most don't really consider pandering to men's fetishes for money as doing what "they want," more a matter of what they have to do to survive.

You do realize women watch porn too?

I write smut for a living, among other fiction genres like Sci Fi and Literary Fiction.

I love porn. I watch it often and am friends with several female porn-film producers. One of which recently landed a sizable contract with an adult-sex product corporation. Recently, two author friends have had their erotica novels selected to be turned into porn flicks by said producer. One of which was produced last year and another is due out this summer.

I am friends with scores of women who are just like me.

You just don't associate with them, obviously. We're all over the place. We have favorite actors and actresses and love the freedom from it and for it. Porn is NOT a guy thing. And the idea that Porn isn't favored by feminists is ridiculous.

In fact, Erika Lust gave a wonderful Ted Talk on the entire subject. It's time for porn to change - ERIKA LUST

to be honest - the SMALL number of 'feminists' who don't like porn... they piss me off and razz my gig. Enjoying porn is a matter of choice and freedom. So what if some people don't like it, I don't want them speaking for me. My motto is: "**** the Prudes" . . . and that's what they are to me.

What is the difference between porn and prostitution?

If only one gets paid, it's prostitution.

Since I too seem to enjoy porn, I guess I'm with you on this. :)

Would you enjoy porn with your daughter in it?

The 'daughter' response is actually a cliche response to 'is porn legitimate' type discussions. People always want to argue the legitimacy of porn by touting whether or not they want their kids to do it.

Why does that even matter? There are scores of careers and life paths that people wouldn't want to personally, or their kids to, engage in. Does it matter?

To me, that viewpoint of 'yes it matters' suggests that one should always ONLY live for their parents, that their parents must forever approve of them throughout their life, and they can never do what they want to do.

It matters to people who are familiar with the concept of morality and know the meaning of the word cringe.

So just cut the games and say what you mean: "I just don't like porn and don't want other people involved in it no matter what."

Trying to put the 'daughter' card is an attempt to made it personal.

But of course that just leads to the common sense bit of: if you don't like it, don't want it / buy it / talk about it / engage in it in any fashion.

So you wouldn't want a daughter of yours in a porn film. Just say that.

The evasive answer means you would say no

Interesting you're assuming I have a negative opinion. To me it's no different than me choosing to write erotica.

I wouldn't honestly care. My concerns aren't on a moral ground or some ethical standpoint. No matter what my kids do with their lives I'd be more concerned about whether or not they're happy doing it / can pay the bills / aren't trapped in misery doing something they've come to hate.

I want their future choice to help build character, inner strength, self reliability, and give them financial freedoms they can enjoy.

You don't see me working a 9-5 office bull**** job for a reason.

I guess some people find it hard to imagine someone really wants their kids to be free to do their own thing in life and don't honestly hold judgment.

By asking that question of me in that manner and drawing the conclusion the only thing you're clarifying is that you have a negative view of porn and look down on women and men who like it in any fashion . . . and wondering why everyone else isn't like you.

I'm sure many parents would prefer that their little girl never have sex at all, and certainly not with anyone they aren't marrying! Hardly the best social or moral barometer, in other words.

Your and my personal opinions of porn aside, there is indeed a problem associated with the stuff, especially with the millions of graphic, often violent, pornographic images now available to anyone with a smartphone. As someone said in one of those smart talks, paraphrasing, "We are not only grooming young men to objectify women, porn also grooms their victims."

Gonzo porn, something which is becoming ever more prevalent, is basically a rape scene with the female actor shown to be enjoying it. So, we get women hammered in the mouth, butt, throat, etc by multiple male actors. At first she is screaming, kicking and otherwise resisting, but then she is shown smiling and "enjoying" the bombardment by male genitalia for the camera once the action gets going. It's pure BS, and it completely distorts reality. I would agree with those saying this stuff promotes rape culture.

Then we have this prevalence of "daddy's girl" like porn. Where stepfathers and real fathers are depicted having sex with their daughters as though it was a normal, every day event. In the talk, the lady said she was told by a child molester during an interview that he did not even have to groom his 13-year-old stepdaughter, the culture did it for him. Think about that for a minute.

No one in their right mind would want their daughter banged by five men, with each spewing ejaculate on her face. Be real.

It can a tough job at times I'm sure, but someone's gotta do it. You could just as easily (and just as in/validly) declare that no-one in their 'right mind' wants their daughter even working in a strip club or posing for softcore porn, and what point would you be proving?

Kids' (and no doubt some adults') access to hardcore porn can be a problem, as you've highlighted, but short of outlawing the stuff altogether it's hard to imagine it can be solved by blocking their access. If it could, it would've been done already. So most likely, the next best mitigation strategy is education to contextualize what they might end up encountering - and that doesn't mean broadly demonising porn, nor demeaning its participants with assumptions that they must always be desperate or exploited or not in their right mind.
